I don't know about condemnation. Mormons are particularly famed for preaching out against it. Wiccans, on average would say it's bad, but fall short of condemnation. Most religions will teach that using anything in excess is bad.

Bible-believing Christians believe the passage in the Bible that says do not harm your body because it is meant to be used to worship/honor God means that smoking, drinking, etc. is wrong.
