Not exactly true.

Although there are many who claim to be ecclectic and do as they please, being kind of wishy-washy, there are many who spend a great deal of time looking for the best in a multitude of traditions.

In the end, all religions are man-made. Every Wiccan tradition is based somehow on others. Some are Gardinerian, some follow Starhawk or Budapest or the Farrars. Ecclectic, in the best sense, simply means that a person is following a carefully constructed faith based on what they have learned from a number of teachers.

Actually, it's easier for me since there are no covens in my area. Wiccans 'round here are very secretive. You can meet them, but you have to know the "right" people.

I would like to settle into one of the traditions and am still exploring some of the Welsh and Scottish paths. In the meantime, Ecclectic works well.

Not exactly. I don't construct it to what I WANT to believe, I just build a structure around what I already DO believe. If I find something outside my religion, I don't say "Well, that's not part of what I already believe, so I guess it can't be true." I examine it and if I find suitable reason to accept it, I incorporate it into what I've been practicing.

Uh, no. Why would you think that?

Every religion started with someone's desires and ideas. Things were added, things were taken away. Why should we pick an arbitrary point and say "That's it. Right there. That's Wicca and nothing can be changed from here on out."?

Religion should be dynamic. Otherwise it becomes dogma. And that way lies the suicide bombers.

I suppose that there is just too much variety in it to say.
