Earl D - the girl you speak of was not the first

Epharaem the Syrian said, in 373 AD, "For all the saints and Elect of God are gathered, prior to the tribulation that is to come, and are taken to the Lord lest they see the confusion that is to overwhelm the world because of our sins."

The word "Rapture" is used to describe an event foretold in the scriptures. The actual word "Rapture" is not found in scripture.
However, the actual event is described in John 14:1-3...1 Cor:15
50-58...Jude 14:15... 1 Thess 4:13-18
After the Rapture of Gods church, the anti-christ will then come to power. He cannot come to power, as long as the church is present. Once removed, God will give the ungodly exactly what they want. A world without christians or God.
Satan will be unleashed and allowed to punish the world for their rejection of God Almighty. Then all the plagues and bowl judgments mentioned in the book of Revelation will be poured out upon the earth. Amazingly, God says people will still not repent of their wicked, sinful ways. Finally the anti christ will try and overpower Israel and wipe her from the face of the earth.
This will be the final battle, referred to in the scriptures as Armageddon. God will supernaturally intervene and come to Israels aid, wiping out her enemies. At this point God says that the Messiah will finally be revealed to All Israel and that ALL Israel will believe in Christ Jesus and be saved. Now that Christ has once and for all, defeated Israels enemies, He will set up His kingdom on this earth for 1000 years. Thus ushering in what is known as Christ's Millenial Reign. Toward the end of these 1000 years, satan will be unbound and allowed to deceive the world, one last time. After His final defeat, he will be cast into the lake of fire forever. Now will come humanities final judgment with Holy Almighty God. Anyone whos name is not found written in the book of life, will be cast into the eternal lake of fire.

This really can't be answered with facts. It's a question of faith and belief. I come from a Roman Catholic background, and no word of this "Rapture" was ever mentioned in the 12 years I was in Catholic school. It's not mentioned in the Bible and I met a guy who said he did the math and it was supposed to happy in September of 2005. It's 2007 now. Another Apocalypse, according to the Mayan calendar is scheduled for the year 2012. I say just live your life as best you can and be happy while helping some people along the way. From my experience, a lot of devout Christians are more concerned with what happens after life that they forget to live during it.

Through deep study of the scriptures I hold to the belief that the catching away (rapture) (gathering) will be towards the end of tribulation, just before the real wrath of God is poured out.

No, it cannot be any minute now as some suppose, Thessalonians tells us that::
:
2 Thess 2:1-5
Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

Paul refers to it as a mystery:
:
1 Cor 15:51-53
Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality

He tells us that it will be at the last trump, when is the last trump?
:
Rev 10:7
But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.

The seventh angel is the last angel to sound his trumpet.

Many believers have been told they will not see tribulation and are not ready to go through any of it.
Scriptures show the man of sin must be revealed first.

1 Thess 3:4
For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know.

Two men working in the field one taken and one left is pretty much the only scripture ever used to support the rapture. The whole concept is contrary to what the Bible says. Jesus won't come and steal all the good people away. He will come in clouds of glory and raise the dead and change them and us in a microsecond and give us indestructible bodies. Then the saints who died will rise first and then we will all be caught up together to meet Jesus in the sky. That verse I mentioned first of the people in the field could apply to the concept of Jesus coming with the sound of a trumpet and having all eyes behold him. Two people staring up at the second coming one person righteous and the other crying for the rocks to fall on him. That is the true scriptural version of the second coming. It is a worldwide event, not just, "Hey..where did Jeff go?"

Rapture is a word Christendom uses to describe all those believing in Jesus who will be taken up into the sky to meet Jesus and be taken to heaven, there is no such thing in the Bible as described like that. My proof is in the Scriptures, Psalms 37:11,29 says that the righteous will inherit the earth and that the wicked will be torn away from it, if all good people go to heaven, who is being talked about in Psalms. Revelations says that a great crowd would survive Armageddon, why would God have them die after surviving Armageddon. God's word says that as long as there are seasons, there would be seed sowing and harvest, the Bible says the earth will stand to times indefinite, it will not be made to totter, and only man sows and harvests, so man is going to be on earth forever in the flesh, otherwise, why does he need to sow seed and harvest? Only 144,000 are going to heaven to be priests of God and associate kings with Jesus Christ and they will rule over the earth, well who are they going to rule over if all good people go to heaven? The majority of the 144,000 are already in heaven, there is a remnant here on the earth today, they now do not have to wait in death for a resurrection back to life like the ealier holy ones did, now they, when they die, will be transformed in the twinkling of an eye to spirit life to be with Jesus in heaven, this is where Christendom gets confused, they believe all good people will go there, but really, only those of the 144,000 do.

What the hell is rapture. Rapture is nothing but a stupid word made by a white guy to strike fear in people. inplus the end of the world will be caused by us, and God knew all along. And Christ does know when the end is going to happed, only on his own do time bro. He has the last seal in his hands and is ready to break when he sees all things naturally come to place. unless we all turn around and change.

This is the basis for my opinion of Jesus' return:

Jesus foretold: “Then they will see the Son of man [Jesus Christ] coming in a cloud with power and great glory.” (Luke 21:27, RS)

In no way does this statement or similar ones in other texts contradict what Jesus said as recorded at John 14:19. Consider: At Mount Sinai, what occurred when God ‘came to the people in a thick cloud,’ as stated at Exodus 19:9? (RS) God was invisibly present; the people of Israel saw visible evidence of his presence, but none of them actually saw God with their eyes.

So, too, when Jesus said that he would come “in a cloud,” he must have meant that he would be invisible to human eyes but that humans would be aware of his presence. They would “see” him with their mental eyes, discerning the fact that he was present.

This is the basis for my opinion on what will occur to mankind:

Matt. 24:21, 22: “Then there will be great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world’s beginning until now, no, nor will occur again. In fact, unless those days were cut short, no flesh would be saved; but on account of the chosen ones those days will be cut short.” (This does not say that “the chosen ones” will all have been taken to heaven before the great tribulation, does it? Rather, it holds out the prospect to them, along with associates in the flesh, of surviving that great tribulation on earth.)

Rev. 7:9, 10, 14, RS: “After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no man could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, ‘Salvation belongs to our God who sits upon the throne, and to the Lamb!’ . . . ‘These are they who have come out of the great tribulation.’” (To “come out” of something a person must go into it or be in it. So this great multitude must be persons who actually experience the great tribulation and come out of it as survivors.)

I don't like the world nor think it's religioius. It comes from a 15 year old Scottish girl named Margaret MacDonald in 1830 and was popularized by a NEw Age Christian leader. THe word isn't in the King James Bible. It isn't Biblical.

It is supposed to describe an event in Revelations.
