Drainage from infected sinuses can go down your throat, just like mucous when you have a cold. This disgusting stuff can cause really bad breath. An Ear Nose and Throat specialist can sometimes diagnose a sinus infection before he ever looks inside just from the smell of your breath.

Ear - nose - throat. They are all connected. If a person has a sinus infection it can be detected in their breath. And yes, if your friend has bad sinuses which can lead to infection it can be detected as "bad breath."

When my kids were little and they said they diodn't feel good and needed to stay home from school (cold coming on...) I would smell their breath. Long before their noses ran and the cold was obvious, if they were coming down with something I could smell it in their breath - and they got a couple days off!

If he has chronic sinusitis (which a lot of people do) he can positively have bad breath. One of the contributing factors is that people with chronic sinus problems "mouth breathe" especially during sleep, which dries out the saliva, which helps to diminish some forms of bacteria in the mouth. Tell your friend to try BreathRX

I really don't think bad breath has anything to do with your sinuses. Sinuses are basically holes in your nose that lessens the weight of the bones in your head. Without them our head would be to heavy to hold up.

If sinuses have purulent drainage, it can lead to bad breath, also bad teeth or stomach problems can cause halitosis.
