He either wants more attention, or he wants to mate. Is there a female cat in your area that is in heat? He may be smelling her pheromones.

Some breeds do that. I also have a pure white mix breed that meows A LOT. Generally, they are just talking to you and asking for attention. It may take a while, but listen and watch. Try to find out if she is meowing at anything specific or during a specific time of day more than others. I finally figured out mine wanted to be laid over my left shoulder and petted first thing in the morning (she will then purr and meow at the same time - comes out as a funny gurgle!). She also likes to lay on my lap while I am working. If it is a sudden change in his behavior, he is likely trying to tell you he is not feeling well, so consider taking him to a vet.

The main reason why cats meow so much is that their hungry. If it is well fed, then they must be feeling sick or some pain is bothering them, so check for any external abnormalities. If not, it is advicable to consult a veterinarian for check up. (Maybe it could be behavioral, it's looking for a mate, if its not still a kitten or something...)

It's probably within his personality to be very vocal. Unless he's displaying signs that he may be injured or in pain, he probably just loves to meow a lot and there's nothing wrong with that.

some cats are natural talkers and others are not. You might just have a talkative kitty. If you just adopted the kitty he may still be adjusting to the new home and it will take time before he realizes everything is ok too.

cats are weird sometimes.
for instance, i have a cat who meows a aweful lot. I also wondered the same question. maybe your cat wants attention. or wants to be put outside. or has to go to the bathroom. pay attention to your cat, you will soon learn how to fufill his/her needs.

Depending on the breed, this is normal, he could have learnt a trait called "vocal blackmail" - they cry because you then give them attention in one way or another. Or he could have something wrong.
