It's worse than that. You are an alcoholic. To me, there's a difference. A drunk is a person who drinks excessively, but doesn't have to drink to cope. A drunk settles down, find a nice girl (or guy), has kids and drinks occasionally. An alcoholic drinks to cope with life (or with people) on a daily basis. I pray that I'm wrong. Please, find another way to cope. Alcohol is only going to make things go from bad to worse.

Yes, if you drink to cope with anything on a day to day basis you are likely an alcoholic. The sooner to seek help and stop drinking the better. There are many support groups, counselors, treatment centers and rehab centers out there willing and ready to help you. You could also confide in a family member or friend and ask them to support you in quitting drinking.

if you drink to forget your day then I'm thinking probaly yes. People are going to drive you into rehab,if you let them.Remember that nothing is what it appears to be some times people who drink too much can't see the obvious. They go to bed drunk and wake up drunk, and are only sober for a brief period of time before they start all over again.Doing this day in and day out will give you major tunnel vision Don't do this to yourself and the people who are close to you,it ain't worth it .

You are an alcoholic. You may not get drunk but you have a dependancy if you can not cope on a day to day basis without alcohol.

You should try another coping technique because too much alcohol is bad for your health. What else makes you feel good that you like to do in your spare time other than drink? Take up a hobby, exercise. I like to walk with headphones on with my favorite music on it and it rests my mind. Also, you should watch who you hang out with because if they drink, they'll affect and influence you.

You could be but there are some deeper issues behind all of that, i'm the same way with MaryJ, ive tried all kinds of meds to try to keep my cool but smoking is the only thing that truly works, seriously though u need to see a therapist and a psych

No, you just need better neighbors and a better job. You sound pessimistic.
I go for optimism: I don't drink to cope with today's woes, I drink to prepare myself for tomorrow's!
