One of my babies (hes 11 months today, but he's still my baby) is so
easily bruised. If he flies somewhere and bumps into something, he
scrapes the skin on his nose or some feathers on his head fall out.
Yesterday all 4 had a night scare and went crazy in the cage. I let
them out so they would calm down and 3 of them were fine, just a bit
scared. The 4th one however, had some blood on the bottom of his
wing. This is not the first time this has happened. When he just
began to fly, he would land in the wrong areas and hurt his wing and
one or twice broke some feathers on it. (They later all fell out by
themselfs). Today he tried to fly up, but landed on my bed. I was
just wondering if there is anything I can do to help him out with
his wing. He has some dried blood on it from last times and a bit
from last night. Is there vitamins or something I can give him that
would allow his wing to heel?
I had this problem with my 7 year old birdy when she was about a
year old. The same area on the wing was bleeding everything she
would bump into something or hurt herself. After a while it just
stopped and she has not had problems with that wing ever since.

Is this just because he is little? Does he need time for his wing to
fully develope and become stronger? Is there anything I can do?

Thanks.

If your bird's wing is bleeding he probably broke a blood feather. You have to pull the feather out to take care of it. A blood feather is one that is still growing and has a blood supply. Once the feather is mature, it no longer needs the blood supply. Once you pull the feather, if he still has any bleeding from the space it came out of you can use styptic powder or cornstarch.
If you don't know how to pull a blood feather, call the vet for instructions or take him in. Once you learn how you'll be able to take care of it.

The latest evidence suggests that clipping a bird's flights is NOT a good idea. You wrote: "When he just began to fly, he would land in the wrong areas and hurt his wing and one or twice broke some feathers on it." Once he learns how to fly expertly (and this will take several months) you can, if you still wish, clip his flights back a little. I am writing this under the assumption that he IS currently clipped, of course. Again, it's his being an inexperienced, uncoordinated and "mutilated" (clipped) flying machine that is responsible for the crash-landings. There is nothing more natural for birds than flight: it gives them self-confidence, and the evidence demonstrates that flighted birds display far fewer behavioral disorders.

Hi. Add some chopped hard cooked egg with the shell to add protein and calcium to heal. After 3 weeks, have his wings clipped by a breeder or avian vet. This way he will gently flutter to the ground. She will get better soon. Have a tweet year.

sounds like he broke a blood feather, these are feathers not fully developed just hold the bird with wing out stretched and pull the feather out , it won't hurt him except to feel a pressure, and a brand new one will grow, might I suggest clipping his wing., birds don't see well at nite, that's why they get spooked

In the short run if you bird bleed you can use stypitic (SP?) powder to stop the bleeding, but it should be seen by a qualified vet.

The feathers will strengthen decrease back. you purely ought to rigidity about the feathers if the blood feathers are damaged, then you will favor to have them plucked. in case you do not see any blood, then he's high-quality.
