It is definitely better to dose by weight than age. There won't really be a big different in effects between infant's and children's Tylenol is you dose correctly for whichever one you choose. You can also call a pharmacy (any Rite-Aid, CVS, etc.) and they can give you an exact dosage for your babies weight, and they could give you a recommendation on which to use.

I believe you can give her either one, but make sure you follow the dosing information very carefully for the medicine you select. The Infant formula is more concentrated, so the dose will probably be smaller. As long as the Infant Tylenol gives a dose for her age, I'd use that. You can also call the CVS 24 hour pharmacy or Walgreens, if you need info now.

Absolutely go by weight! My son is only eighteen months but I started giving him Childrens Tylenol because he weighs enough for it. (there is an overlap in weights) The biggest difference between the two is the concentration of the medication. You MUST give far less of the infant drops than of the childrens tylenol. So if your daughter is good at taking medicine and she meets the weight requirements you can go with Childrens, but if she spits out the medication and she's still within the weight limit of the infant drops go with those as there is less for her to have to swallow and therefore less tramatizing.

Go by your childs weight. not age, because infant tylenol is concentrated, and not all kids are going to be the same weight.

Go by her weight. My daughter will be 3 in April and she still doesn't weigh enough to take children's Tylenol. I've always been told by our pediatricians that you go by their weights and not the ages.

Now that she is over 2, you can give her the children's brand instead of the infant one. Just make sure to follow the label's instructions so that you don't accidentally overdose. Many children also like the new strips that melt in your mouth, the Triaminic ones, because they taste good, and it doesn't require them to drink the liquid.

My son is 20 months old and still uses infants tylenol. My peditrician said not to give him childrens until at least age 2-but seeing as your daughter is over 2 it should be safe as long as you follow doses exactly.
