I'm around 16 and only weight like 102. I'm pretty small and in my jiu jitsu class there's always bigger guys. It seems as if I can never get them into anything because they overpower me. Are there any tips or ideas you guys can tell me? Usually whenever I try for a triangle I cant reach their head and if I do they just pull my leg out. any ideas?

Unfortunately, overwhelming size and strength differences will make a difference in martial arts within the class setting. You will have to work on bulking up through weight training and, not to be rude, maturing physically. Just learn your art, and train hard, that way when you get the strength, the knowledge will be in place.

Stop trying to apply a triangle on your opposition that is so much bigger then you...While this is a basic jujitsu move you must be able to cross your leg all the way over your opponents neck....This can be tough to do on someone that has a big size advantage...Also even if you do lock it in and your only 105 pounds your opponent is going to pick you up and plant you right into the mat...Keeping that locked in would be tough to do...Work on arm bars and chokes which are easier to apply. Use your speed to your advantage! Remember your in a physical chess match...Try to stay 2-3 steps of your opponent and if one move doesn't work move onto the next....Good luck and stick with it!

I am in the same boat as you. I am 5'9 150 pounds; the smallest guy in my class. It is really difficult being the smaller guy; you just have to learn escapes for a while before you learn submissions and since you are smaller you will most likely be working from your back. You should be focusing on sweeps, escapes and positional dominance then start going for submissions. You will not be able to submit your opponent if you cannot control them; but since you are smaller you will most likely have to sweep the guy from your back or escape transition to a good dominant position then go for submission. Since you are smaller I would try the triangle from the mount and roll them into it. Good luck.
