The smoky odour most likely comes from wood-burning by your neighbours - this happened to my cat too. The best thing is to wipe off the cat with a damp towel dipped in a very mild solution of vinegar and water, so it won't hurt the cat when she licks herself afterwards. You could also use cat shampoo, but you wouldn't want to be doing that every day. Good luck.

If my cat smelled like smoke bad enough to bother me, i'd stop letting it out....that or find out the source of why your cat smells like smoke. I'd worry about WHERE your cat is picking that smell up from rather than HOW to get rid of the smell. Sounds fishy to me...haha fishy get it??!?

She has freinds that smoke. Try bathing her whenever she smells like smoke. She will start associating bath with smell.

It sounds like your cat has a bad cigarette habit. Shave your kitty and stick a crapload of them there nicotine patches all over it. Kitty will have some withdrawels, but will thank you later for it
