If you say it does, are you not saying God is not capable of making creatures that can improve over time to match the environment? Thats not true, he does have the power to do that. Although I do not believe the theory of evolution, I do believe its possible, and would not discredit God in anyway.

The Bible says God created everything, it does not say how exactly he did so.

The bible does not talk about atomic bombs, yet they exist...
They don't matter in the end, just like evolution.

Why do some (closed minded) people think that creationism and the supposed existence of God discredit evolution?

I agree with you. Evolution is a science, and has nothing to do with religion. Evolution, or, the study of the fossil record, does not attempt to explain the fact that God created the soul. That is religion, and has nothing to do with science, except that the things of science and the things of faith both come from the same God. Truth cannot contradict truth.
There is too much confusion labelling a literalist as creationists. A literalist is not a creationist in the true sense of the term.
"no real disagreement can exist between the theologian and the scientist provided each keeps within his own limits. . . . If nevertheless there is a disagreement . . . it should be remembered that the sacred writers, or more truly ‘the Spirit of God who spoke through them, did not wish to teach men such truths (as the inner structure of visible objects) which do not help anyone to salvation’; and that, for this reason, rather than trying to provide a scientific exposition of nature, they sometimes describe and treat these matters either in a somewhat figurative language or as the common manner of speech those times required, and indeed still requires nowadays in everyday life, even amongst most learned people" (Leo XIII, Providentissimus Deus 18).
As the Catechism puts it, "Methodical research in all branches of knowledge, provided it is carried out in a truly scientific manner and does not override moral laws, can never conflict with the faith, because the things of the world and the things the of the faith derive from the same God. The humble and persevering investigator of the secrets of nature is being led, as it were, by the hand of God in spite of himself, for it is God, the conserver of all things, who made them what they are" (CCC 159). The Catholic Church has no fear of science or scientific discovery.

Ok, well couldn't God have created an evolving Universe? Evolution makes sense, and believing it IS acceptable for any Christian. The Bible story was created to show a simple people how God created the world, and God has given us an evolving brain to figure out life and the Universe for ourselves.
God created an evolving Universe so humanity could grow and enrich itself, learn from its mistakes and strive for a better future.
God and science seek to define the same exact thing, but in different ways. That is why I believe in both evolution and God.

I think that what you propose, God as the creator of the evolutionary system on Earth, is an interesting way to harmonize "intelligent design" and evolution. Perhaps the problem is the biblical telling of the story. If the bible got it right, the world was made in 7 days. There's no room for evolution over eons.

I agree that it is possible that a god could have used evolution to create everything we now know. I’m an atheist and I think it would be a rather round about and convoluted way to go about it, but I will admit that it is possible.
However, not the Christian god. Certainly not that god, not based on the bible. You would have to throw out everything you know about the bible to marry those two schools of thought.
----------------------------------------------------------
No no no
When reading the bible, you can date things backward and you get up to the fact that the bible says that the earth is about 6000 years old (some fundamentalists will go as far as 10000 yrs, but having read it myself, I think even that strays from scripture).
-----------------------------------------------------------------
You're putting yourself in someone else’s position. Since when is that a bad thing? I think it was a good question topic.

EDIT************************************... examine Romans a million, nature purely shows God's attributes. in case you prefer to truly see God, one would desire to look to Jesus. confident, we are bodily created from a similar aspects. The finding out element in all of it is this: Mankind is made in a twin of God. that's non secular. Animals are merely animals, no soul, no spirit. Mankind is falsely located interior the animal kingdom by a medical community who does not see the information of God. Mankind is in its very own kingdom, that of God's. The question isn't any remember if one needs to be a noble undertaking or a peasant. end EDIT************************************... If evolution is a maximum appropriate grand technique, then the finished Bible would desire to be thrown out. The advent account in Genesis a million is the 1st element interior the Bible: no remember if that's faulty what authority does something of the Bible have; it has none. all of the Bible's medical statements are or have been shown to be real even after some have tried to state the different. technology has had to alter greater circumstances than possible count quantity simply by new technologies and training. The Bible in its purest form has not had to get replaced one bit to trust its self. Beating a ineffective horse, Darwin finally gave up on the theory of evolution. He chanced on it to not paintings. i hit upon that the "medical" paintings on evolution is very much of fabrication and conjecture. I talk from wisdom and not rhetoric. it remains talked approximately as theory, it is the biggest certainty of its assertion. theory is unproven hypothesis. look on the quite a few information from non-theorist promoters. it could open your eyes. hear to the quite a few promoters courses on technology and documentary channels. They use greater concept words than a awful preacher. heavily evaluate the logic in a land animal transforming into a sea animal. The numbers of variations required interior the quantity of time it could require is magnificent. The information that help faith are so sparkling and obvious. The information that help disbelief are obscure for a reason. And here that's: 2Th 2:10 - 12 and all forms of evil to misinform people who're death, people who refused to love the certainty that could shop them. subsequently, God will deliver them a reliable fantasy so as that they'll have faith the lie. Then all who have not believed the certainty yet have taken exhilaration in unrighteousness would be condemned. Thumbs away. Grace and peace to all.

I'm a Christian and I believe in evolution. My husband does not however and I found this out when he was calling people who believed in evolution idiots in front of his friends and I spoke up and he just put his hand up and turned his head. He always has been a close minded individual.. ha... so I really don't try to explain his actions or why he thinks it is right as a Christian to put his own wife down by degrading her beliefs like that.

It would definitely discredit the Abrahamic view of God. The Bible says that the animals would give birth to offspring "after [their] own kind". An ape wiould always be an ape. Sorry, science has struck the fatal blow to those three belief structures.

I don't think anybody who is serious about evolution claims it disproves the existence of God. LIke many other scientific principle, people use it to forward their own agenda.
People confuse the fact that it disproves the literal truth of the Christian bible with the notion that it completely disproves the existence of god.
