or decreases the chance if you have a hairy beard or long hair on your head? I'm a grappler and i need to know if i should shave or not for the tournament.

No...shaving will give you an advantage in not having anything to grab a hold of...you won't get ring worm...

Ring worm happens with or without hair, but if you have hair and you get ringworm in the hair it will cause a temporary balding of that particular spot. If you shaved your head then you may save yourself some trouble in the long run.

ringworm is caused by a fungus. shaving your face or head is not going to have any effect to your basic cleanliness, so no, it's not going to matter.

unclean conditions cause ringworm, not shaving. (and oddly enough you can also occasionally get it from cats)

go ahead and shave it all, the only increased risk would be for an ingrown hair or whisker.
