Nice try, Ms. Ignorant.
(I don't care if my answer gets so long that no one reads it; big deal! I'll be putting down here the verses mentioned above, ALONG with verses from the Bible, and then comparing the status of women in the Bible and Quran, ok?)
You, Ms. Blind to the Truth, give us no choice but to shame you so much that you've to run for a cover. I don't mean to sound evil, but you yourself have proven your humiliation and ignorance about the Truth of Islam.
Quran, 4:43:
"O ye who believe! Approach not prayers with a mind befogged, until ye can understand all that ye say,- nor in a state of ceremonial impurity (Except when travelling on the road), until after washing your whole body. If ye are ill, or on a journey, or one of you cometh from offices of nature, or ye have been in contact with women, and ye find no water, then take for yourselves clean sand or earth, and rub therewith your faces and hands. For Allah doth blot out sins and forgive again and again."
In contact with women means when you've been INTIMATE/PHYSICAL with them (had sex with them, to be exact) That means that whenever you are intimate with each other, BOTH (the husband AND the wife) HAVE to take a bath; otherwise, you can't perform the obligatory prayers, neither the man nor the woman. When you're on a journey and can't find water to bathe with, you do what Muslims call "tayammum", and if you ever did understand the truth of Islam, you'd know what that is, Ms. Supposed "Ex-Muslimah"! (Don't deny that she and you are the same.... though, your email ID says "Salman"-- a male name! Prove you're a liar even further. Grow up, will ya?).
Now, let's see what today's version of the Bible says about touching women (during their monthly cycle, that is):
"When a woman has her regular flow of blood, the impurity of her monthly period will last seven days, and anyone who touches her will be unclean till evening. anything she lies on during her period will be unclean, and anything she sits on will be unclean. Whoever touches her bed must wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will be unclean till evening. Whoever touches anything she sits on must wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will be unclean till evening. Whether it is the bed or anything she was sitting on, when anyone touches it, he will be unclean till evening" (Leviticus 15:19-23).
Hmm... sweet!!!!! :@:@ :@:@
The Quran only says not to have intercourse with them during menstruation; Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would hug his wives around the waist during this time and would recite the Quran to show that the woman is still his wife and can be touched!!!!
Next verse. Quran, 4:11:
"Allah (thus) directs you as regards your Children's (Inheritance): to the male, a portion equal to that of two females..."
Sweet honey, this verse is talking about INHERITANCE!!!!
At least a Muslim woman gets to inherit SOMETHING even while her brothers are alive!
According to today's Bible, a female can only inherit if her brothers die!! How sad??!!
"Say to the Israelites, 'If a man dies and leaves no son, turn his inheritance over to his daughter...' " (Numbers 27:8)...
Hmm!! Again, very, very sweet!
And no other Holy Book gives a woman the right to inherit, ok? It doesn't matter if their CULTURE or today's society do; their religion doesn't, and that's important to know. Only Islam does.
Anyway, of course a female should inherit half as much as the male, as she should. Females are not obligated to have jobs (but they can if they wish, and NO ONE is allowed to stop them! HAHAHAHA!!!) And the man HAS to have a job, like it or not. The man is responsible financially for the family, so he SHOULD get twice as much inheritance as the female, silly.
Again, the verse does NOT say 2 women are worth 1 woman. LOL! Ms. Ignorant, try reading and putting down the verse, will ya? Don't, if you wish not to, but I just don't want you to continue feeling this humilation, you know? Muslims proving you wrong here and all.
43:15 does NOT say a female's birth is a bad omen!!
It doesn't even MENTION women!!! LOL! How dumber could you get?
"Yet they attribute to some of His servants a share with Him (in his godhead)! truly is man a blasphemous ingrate avowed!"
Uhhh...
Mind telling me what it says about the birth of a female? I even read the neighboring verses in case you'd made some mistake as usual, but none of them talked about a female's birth!
ANYWAY!!! It was during the pre-Islamic Arabia that females were considered a bad omen, as it is stated in the Bible as well.
"...if a wom an have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall be unclean seven days...but if she bear a maid child, then she shall be unclean two weeks..." (Leviticus 12:2-5)
"The birth of a daughter is a loss" (Ecclesiasticus 22:3)
Ahhh....So you must've meant today's Bible and NOT the Quran considers a female birth a bad omen because the Quran condemns such beliefs, ok, sweetie?
The Quran says:
"When news is brought to one of them, of (the birth of) a female (child), his face darkens, and he is filled with inward grief! With shame does he hide himself from his people, Because of the bad news He has had! Shall he retain it On (sufferance and) contempt, Or bury it in the dust? Ah! what an evil (choice) They decide on?" (Quran, 16:58-59).
AHHHAA!!! That means that ANYONE who finds the birth of a female OMINOUS or mere hardships or a curse is A WRONG-DOER!!!!! That person has been led astray and is working with the devil.
Don't try mixing culture with religion, ma'am. I still know some Muslims who find the birth of a female an unpleasant thing, but it's purely unIslamic and Allah is extremely against such a thing. In fact, the Quran states that both male and female children are EQUAL blessings!!!!
And, plus, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught his followers to treat their female and male children EQUALLY (in everything, including education!!!! HAHAHAHHA!!!)
In fact, he said: "He who is involved in bringing up daughters, and accords benevolent treatment towards them, they will be protection for him against Hell-Fire."
Get it, buddy?
Now, a question for YOU, Ms. Mother of Ignorance:
WHEN Will you learn, and WHEN will you truly become FREE? Ahhh... Shame on you and all others like you.
You sooo don't read the answers to your other questions, do you? Cause Muslims have proven you wrong, especially with the fake surah of yours abt the birth of a female is an omen!!!
And plus, you don't know any of what's in the Bible, Torah, or Vedas, do you? JUST as you don't know what's in the Quran. The Quran is the ONLY Holy Book that respects and appreciates women. If you'd read the answers to your ignorant questions, you'd start thinking, but thinking takes time and hurts people like you.
For YOUR information:
-- "Your daughter is headstrong? Keep a sharp look-out that she does not make you the laughing stock of your enemies, the talk of the town, the object of common gossip, and put you to public shame" (Ecclesiasticus 42:11)
-- "Keep a headstrong daughter under firm control, or she will abuse any indulgence she receives. Keep a strict watch on her shameless eye, do not be surprised if she disgraces you"
(Ecclesiasticus 26:10-11).
-- "let your w om en keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are c om manded to be under obedience, as also saith the law, and if they will learn anything, let them ask their husbands at h om e: for it is a shame for w om an to speak in the church." (1 Corinthians 14:34-35)
-- "A man who educates his son will be the envy of his enemy."
(Ecclesiasticus 30:3)
-- "Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the w om an is man, and the head of Christ is G od. Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head. And every w om an who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head...If a w om an does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off; and if it is a disgrace for a w om an to have her hair cut or shaved off, she should cover her head" (1 Corrinthians 11:3-6)
-- "I also want w om en to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for w om en who profess to worship God" (1 Timothy 2:9-10)
-- "The w om an he (the priest) marries must be a virgin. He must not marry a widow, a divorced w om an, or a w om an defiled by prostitution, but only a virgin fr om his own people.'" (Leviticus 21:13-4)
-- "I find more bitter than death the woman who is a snare, whose heart is a trap and whose hands are chains. The man who pleases God will escape her, but the sinner she will ensnare." "Look," says the Teacher, "this is what I have discovered: "Adding one thing to another to discover the scheme of things-while I was still searching but not finding- I found one upright man among a thousand, but not one upright w om an among them all." (Ecclesiastes 7:26-28)
THIS is why I (A FEMALE) am a Muslim and LLLLOOOOOOVE Islam!!!!
Don't even think about twisting the words of God, sweetie; you won't succeed, I promise you. In fact, I bet my life on the fact that you won't succeed :D!
Anything else you'd like to know?

You mentiond this: "when you touch a woman wash your hands (sura 4/43)"
Has it occurred to you to figure the actual meaning? It is symbolising the importance of NOT touching women before marriage, and hence the importance of respect and purity.

You're not an ex Muslimah! You don't even know how to spell Prophet Muhammad's (pbuh) name right! You probably think you're so smart, trying to fool all these people.
Surah 4 Verse 11 is regarding inheritance. It's not about 2 women being the equivalent of 1 man. Men are suppose to be the ones who have more financial responsibilities therefore they inherit a little more. [ Surah An-Nisa can be read here - http://www.al-sunnah.com/call_to_islam/quran/pickthall/surah4.html ]
Surah 4 Verse 43 is about the rules of prayer. After a man or woman has done the ablution, they are not allowed to touch one another if these particular man or woman are allowed to marry, (for example.. if a brother shakes hands with his sister, his ablution is still valid because marriage is forbidden between them but say, if a woman accidentally touched her husband she has to do the ablution again). The rule applies to both men and women!
Surah 43 Verse 15: And they allot to Him a portion of His bondmen! Lo! man is verily a mere ingrate. [No mention of the birth of a female child being a bad oman here.]
In fact... the Quran orders us that we should not "bury daughters alive."
[17:31] You shall not kill your children due to fear of poverty. We provide for them, as well as for you. Killing them is a gross offense
In Christianity: -"The birth of a daughter is a loss" (ECCLESIASTICUS 22:3, Catholic Bible)
- Ritual impurity of a mother is TWICE as long if a female is born and not a male. (LEVITICUS 12:2-5)
Is it not clear that Islam again gives a higher status to females? What Islam came to eradicate -- the bad treatment of females -- still continues in today's Protestant and Catholic scriptures.
I am PROUD and HAPPY I'm a Muslim. Your lies won't affect the faith of Muslims in anyway, so why don't you save yourself from some embarassment and just give it up?

1. The Bible Convicts Women as the original
Sinners, (ie. Eve picking from the forbidden
tree){Genesis 2:4-3:24}. The Koran Clarifies it
was Adam Not Eve {Qur'an 7:19-25}
2. The Bible says "The Birth of a Daughter is a
loss" {Ecclesiasticus 22:3}. The Qur'an says both
are an Equal Blessing { Qur'an 42:49}
3. The Bible Forbids Women from Speaking in
church {I Corinthians 14:34-35}. The Qur'an says
Women Can argue with the Prophet {58:1}
4. In the Bible, divorced Women are Labeled as
an Adulteress, while men are not {Matthew 5:31-32}. The
Koran does Not have Biblical double standards
{ Qur'an 30:21}
5. In The Bible, Widows and Sisters do Not
Inherit Any Property or Wealth, Only men
do{Numbers 27:1-11}The Koran Abolished this
male greediness { Qur'an 4:22} and God Protects
All.
6. The Bible Allows Multiple Wives{I Kings 11:3}
In The Koran, God limits the number to 4 only
under certain situations (with the Wife's
permission)and Prefers you Marry Only One
Wife{ Qur'an 4:3} The Koran gives the Woman
the Right to Choose who to Marry.
7. "If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not
pledged to be married and rapes her and they are
discovered, he shall pay the girl's father fifty
shekels of silver. He must marry the girl, for he
has violated her. He can never divorce her as long
as he lives" {Deuteronomy 22:28-30}
One must ask a simple question here, who is
really punished, the man who raped the woman or
the woman who was raped? According to the
Bible, you have to spend the Rest of Your Life
with the man who Raped You.
The Prophet Muhammad Says {Volume 9, Book
86, Number 101} Narrated by Aisha:" It is
essential to have the consent of a virgin (for the
marriage)".
Would the Christian men Reading this prefer the
Women they know to Be Christian or Muslim?
8. The Bible also asks Women to wear veils as in
Islam {I Corinthians 11:3-10}, this lowers the
chance of rape, (God Forbid),
9. Women were given rights to Vote less than a
100 years ago in the (US), while the Quran (42:38) gave
Women Voting rights almost 1,500 years ago.
10. Islam has unconfined Women and has given them
the human right to reach for the sky. There have been
Muslim Women Presidents through out the centuries,
but to this date, the oppressive mentality of the
men in the Western U.S.A. has stopped any Women from becoming
Presidents in predominately Christian countries,
while the Muslim countries have voted for and
elected Female Presidents.
Here is a list of previous Female Muslim leaders:
Khadija bint Khuwaylid
Aishah bint Abu Bakr
Fatimah bint Muhammad
Barakah
Ramlah bint Abu Sufyan
Rumaysa bint Milhan
Umm Salamah
Asma bint Abu Bakr
Zaynab al-Ghazali

I'm a Christian and for the one quoting the Bible saying that all those things about women... umm, no. The loss was not a daughter but a foolish daughter because a foolish daughter would be her father's burden were as a good daughter would not be. The reference of women not speaking in church was only towards married women and it was probably to not encourage her to talk to the male figures in a church but to her husband instead. Divorce did not make a woman bad in the sense we think in these times. It was because the only reason a man was suppose to divorce a woman was if he found out she had commited adultery.. so therefor a divorced woman meant she was an adulteress because she had indeed cheated on her husband. God told Solomon in Kings not to have all the wives that he did because they would make him turn his heart away from God, it was Solomon that chose to have all of those wives... God did not tell him to nor did he condone it.
In addition, it does not really mean rape. If a man lay with a virgin and THEY were caught, hence it was mutual sex... then he is to marry her. Covering of the woman's head was not to prevent rape but it was for married women to wear to show their devotion towards their husbands.
This was early and in the Old Testament however... things become more relaxed towards women in the New Testament.

Then as a former Muslim, I would expect you to also keep in mind the secular ways of life at teh time of THe Prophet. Women had been treated like that for as long as history goes back, in the Middle East. Women were not as stong, had little rights and did not serve in the military at he time of Mohammed (pbuh). Even the Bible says that women are to subservient to men. Jesus said it as well.
(By the way, I have never been a Muslim, but I have tolerance for MOST faiths)

It was never said that two women=one man, in the ONE instance, two women would subsitute for one man for bearing witness, as if there was one woman and one man then the man could likely have a relationship with the woman, and lie for him. Two women or a single man makes that quite a bit harder to do.

43:16 What! has He taken daughters out of what He himself creates, and granted to you sons for choice?
To ascribe daughters to Allah was particularly abominable and blasphemous because the pagans used to hold the female sex in contempt.

My contents of thoughts of my prophet is and always will remain to be praiseworthy, virtuous, and conforming. I love my prophet and have utmost respect for him, for he is Allah's great companion. Nothing you say will have any effect on me or any other Muslim sisters because what you claim to be true is, in fact, littered with false, distorted, viceful, and direct accusation to the truth. You know nothing of Mohammad, or Islam for that matter, so please stop proving with complete distortion of the facts that you have no shred of understanding. trying to contradict one's faith with ridiculous information is just a waste of time for both you and me. I advise you to do something more productive than asking crap questions. Thanks.

islam is a medieval religion stopped in time.
it does not respect human rights and even less women rights.
this does not mean that many islamic men and women are not aware of these rights and respect them ignoring medieval aspects of the religion.
we should all support the islam followers that respect human rights and women rights.
we should all condemn those who use their religion outdated aspects to excuse their immoral and illegal behaviors.
