You are very wise :) thank you for reminding me the reason why i was always nice before.

i don't really know why people (including myself) are mean when it comes to religion.

my mom always tells me that there are two things that if you talk about will start a fight:

politics and religion.

she warns me not to talk about them, but i do anyways :)

hey I'm only 17 :)

You are right. No religions encourage hatred or violence. Those who behave rudely against humanity are not believers, they only use religion as disguise.
The masses had been cheated due to lack of knowledge. Today we have amazing means of communication to bring all religions, all cultures, all sciences, all arts, all other forms of noble thoughts to light, so the cheaters will soon loose their foothold.

I agree. People don't understand that religious tolerance doesn't mean that you have to agree with what other people believe. Just being respectful of what they believe and letting your words/actions show that respect would cause quite a bit of the hatred/violence to end.

Because religions are intolerant of each other. They are like political parties; cutting down the opposition and spreading their own ideas is the best way to increase membership.

We do not "all function the same way ". Some are more willing (or capable) of coherent thought, and this leads to disagreement with the sleepers.

Theists, especially christians, try to control and restrict us based on their views. If all christians stop crusading against science, culture, art, sex and sexuality, religious freedom and such, and stop telling everybody else they're going to be tortured throughout eternity unless they join you, I assure you that you won't encounter nearly as much hostility.

Just reading the replies so far demonstrates my point.

It all boils down to ignorance. Ignorance breeds hatred.

The post by Karla right above me is a prime example.

Because there is only one real religion, only one true God and the devil is behind the others. The devil is the intimate liar and likes to stir up trouble against the one true religion.
