Confusion: was it a date or not?
I like this guy I work with and I got hints from him that he liked me too, so I asked him if he wanted to come over and eat something that I would attempt to cook. He kindly declined and said that his brother is going to be in town, so he can’t. And I took it as a hint that he doesn’t like me. But the next day, he emails me and asks me if I am up for lunch because he needs to escape for a while. So just the 2 us went out and he took me to a decently fancy restaurant. He asked me to drive because he wanted to take a ride in my ML and compare to his BMW, supposedly. And it turns out that his brother is really going to be in town and he wasn’t making it up. He paid for the lunch also. Date or no Date? Interested or just nice?

hard to say, he may have asked you to lunch because he honestly felt bad for not making dinner and is concerned about your feelings. Hard to label it a date, he didn't actually use his mouth to ask you and it was at work too. If he asks you out again then you know that it was an icebreaker. i would say no date. but a point of interest for sure
