I know this guy, and I think he is awesome. He knows I exist, but I don't know on what level. I am a bit too shy to go right up to him and just tell him. Though normally I'm not. Its different with him. Any suggestions on maintaining my cool and actually getting to the point of having a conversation with him? Without stuttering, stammering, making a fool of myself? Just looking for any advice out there.

ok im kinda doing the same thing right now and i think u should just talk with him mor often so u become more comfortable with him. thats wut im thinking of doing with the guy i like.

You could let a friend let him know you are interested. Sometimes that is easier and keeps you from feeling rejected. If you go solo try smiling and starting by using small talk just to have some conversation. Find out his hobbies and passions and talk about them. Get him to talk about things he likes and he will respond. Sometimes you just have to ask him first. You will never know if you don't ask him. Most guys will be extremely flattered to be asked out and will respond positively.
Plan your conversation out, even practice in front of a mirror. Have confidence in yourself, start by wearing something you feel good in and that makes you feel happy. Smile ( very important ) and take a deep breath. Remember, guys get nervous also, in fact everybody gets nervous around somebody they are attracted to ( does not matter how old they are, how good looking , are how experienced) Just think about the good things that could happen. Life is short and you will regret things you were scared to do, especially missing out on people you are attracted to. I still regret not asking some girls out because I was scared of being rejected or was to slow or lost my chance. Good luck and think positively.

The way to getting to know a guy and having the courage to strike a conversation is to be yourself and don't try to act like you are someone you are not, it is a sure way to turn the guy away. It is important he sees you for who you are, He will be able to show what he is like. Just be general and go up and introduce yourself, say hello ask him how he is doing, doing the little things count for something, sometimes it what you don't say and should that will get you a hit rather then what you say and shouldn't.
