By stopping the concentration of power in the hands of government. That really is what totalitarianism is. It is when all the power is in the hands of the state.

We are loosing our freedom. Every day, our politicians pass more laws, giving themselves more power over us. This, of course, is in violation to the Constitution, but they do it anyway, and the American people cheer. Look at what they have done to the Bill of Rights in the name of fighting terrorism. If you study the history of Nazi Germany, you will find that Hitler got a law passed called the Enabling Act. This, he told the Germans, was to make Germany safe from the riots and crime in the streets. He also disarmed the German people.
