While you might be hearing about it in the news, it can't be statistically true or insurance companies would be charging them just as much. You don't think the insurance companies are doing young girls favors do you?? No, they use a sophisticated method to calculate risk and boys take more risk than girls, and not just in driving.

I live in the UK (not sure if you do) but it's mainly because teenage girls have a lot less accidents than teenage boys do. Although the quotes are still ludicrous. If you are looking for insurance, shop around and argue with companies. Full on argue until you get the best price you can, and don't get taken for a mug as insurance companies make top dollar from doing this.

Teenage girls insurance rates are cheaper than boys because girls in a perfect head up *** world dont speed and do all the fun things boys do. LIke drag racing talking on cell phones, weaving in and out of traffic and all that good stuff.

Although it's true that girls are becoming increasingly reckless at a faster rate than boys, boys still have more accidents. The gap is closing and insurance companies are closing the price gap but it's not there yet. Girls really need to be ashamed of that increase in accidents too. I ride a motorcycle and girls follow too damned close and DON'T pay attention. Part of the insurance problem is male aggression behind the wheel. Boys are prone to faster and more powerful cars and tend to think of their vehicles as a personal weapon if somebody pisses them off or if they want to "flex" their automotive muscles (assuming the rest of us are impressed by their sqealing tires and generally idiotic and pointless dangerous driving moves). The saddest thing in the world is handcuffing some 17 year old who just killed someone because he was pissed off or showing off. His life, and his family's lives are seriously messed up and someone else's is done. Been there and done that. Cars are deadlier weapons than ANY firearm and kill more kids every year. Drive safe.

Historically, boys pick up girls and take them out on a date. The standard way of dating is boy courts girl. So, statistically, they drove more than girls. Also, historically, boys took part in drag racing and still tend to be more wreckless.

Well it is a fact that GIRLS get in more accidents, for example talking on the cell phone while putting on their make up, while trying to do the latest dance moves after shifting gears. Seriously girls get in more accidents then boys, but they are generally smaller less likely to put you in a hospital type accidents. When us guys get in accidents we cause more damage, to the vehicles, ourselves and other people. Not all of us are crazy drivers but we have to pay for it. That's the whole point of insurance, you have to spread out the risk. It sucks but it is what it is.

statistically boys hotrod more than girls but stats are what you make of them. 9 out of ten couples, the guy is driving so if you got 10,000 guys driving and 1000 girls, sure, the guys are going to wreck more- theres more of them driving. percentage-wise though if given the same amount each were driving ,the girls would wreck more. guys are better drivers and that's a proven fact. sorry girls.

Good question. Personally, I think it is a discrimination situation, and one to be pursued by the industry. Try looking into a good driver program, as well as one connected to good grades in school.
