You're probably missing a Codec. That's a special program that tells Windows Media Player (and other programs) how to play certain files.

Go here: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm

This is chock-full of codecs. Install it, and there's a VERY good chance the codec you need is in there. Once it's installed, you shouldn't need to deal with it again, and all your movies should run fine. Plus it supports the most common ones used for downloaded movies (DivX and XVid).

Windows media player dose not support evry format. Some of the formats like DIVX, XVID etc. require dedicated codecs. Codec must be install on your machine in order for the paricular format to be decoded. You can download many codecs for free from the internet, but you have to be carfull, do yor homework, because you can easily download spyware or virus. Microsoft website will be a good place to start looking for high quality codecs.

Try searching the internet for a codec that will allow media player to support that particular file type. Also if I knew the file type I might could find the download for you. To find the file type. Go to the spot where you download the file and look for the 3 letter extension. If your computer isn't showing extensions go to Tools>Folder Options. Click View. Unclick Hide extensions for known file types. Click Apply. Click Ok. Go to http://www.filext.com and search for programs that will run that particular extension. God Bless.

Or u can find them right anywhere on the net, but download only if u know its a trusted site!
