Are you the type to wait last minute or are you pretty detailed and organized?

Turbo Tax is great, but as I have seen first hand the most detailed oriented person can make a mistake... Also, you just bought a home theres a different form and more claims to be made, its tricky to know what to claim and what not to claim, which in the end will hurt or help you...

I think you need to pay someone to do it for you this first time. Ask lots of questions, have the CPA go over the tax forms with you explicitly telling you what each deduction or claim is, then take what you know and do a little reserach, come next May, you will be okay to do it yourself.

If you just bought the house this past year, have someone else do your taxes, like an H&R Block because there are a lot of deductions that you may not realize on your own and even a program like TurboTax wouldn't necessarily call to your attention.

Next year's taxes you could do on your own by looking back to this year's taxes and using a program like TurboTax to complete them.

It should cost much but the benefits to having someone else do them could be great

Turbo tax is a pretty decent program if you're considering doing it yourself...It's about $45.00 for the program. I used it last year, and it spells everything out for you. Try it.
