child abuse laws?

i heard on the news that if a parent hits a child over the chest or even on the chest it counts as child abuse i have suffered this for no reason and would like to report my father for my mother to take custody of me

Though each state defines it a little different, this would likely fall under physical abuse. Generally, across the board, the only acceptable physical discipline is spanking on the butt. It should not leave substantial marks or bruising.

And, no, he will not automatically go to jail. What the agensy will do is try to ensure your safety, and get him the help he needs. Only if the abuse is taken too far are criminal charges considered.

You can report it on your own, or disclose it to your counselor at school. They are required by law to report this type of information. They will also be there to help you through this situation as well.

I am sorry you are going through this. It is not your fault. No matter what kind of trouble a child gets in, they never deserve to suffer any form of abuse.

Reporting your father for child abuse will get him thrown in jail, he'll sit and rot their for years. There was a reason for him hitting you. Clean up your own act and just ask him to let you go live with mommy.
