Actually this can be a sign of upper resperatory infection. Make sure she is away from any drafts. Nof you you mean fluffing like cleaning them then yes that is very normal. If you meed staying fluffed up all of the time, then no...and to the vet you should go.

no it's completely normal. my parakeets do the same thing. when it fluffs up that means it's satisfied and whenever you put your hand in the cage she gets scared so she goes back to normal and the reason why she plucks her feathers are because she's cleaning herself. so don't worry your parakeet is completely fine and good luck with her

She is not sick. All bird's pluck their feathers it's called preening. They usually preen in this season and spring. If she is eating and singing then she is perfectly fine. I know this cause I have 2 cockatiels of my own and I used to own a parakeet.

Try to rotate her toys and give her foraging toys like treats wrapped in wax paper and twisted at the ends. Give her a good pelleted food, 10% seed, and 10% fruits and veggies to avoid malnutrition. Give her a warm bath of 2 inches in a sink, splash the water with your fingers and act enthusiastically. She will learn to enjoy herself.Train your bird. I bet she is fine. She needs stimulation. You two will have a great relationship. Have a tweet year.

No way! My friends bird picks at his feathers all the time! And when he is puffed up, that either means he just took a bath and was dried and got all puffy, or...........i dunno. Sorry and good luck. Oh yeah. If she is fluffing her feathers, Thats just like grooming herself.

Probably preening her feathers.
Mine used to "shed" more in the winter when my heater was on.

I have to agree with barbedwirecat. Keep away from drafts. If it continues, I would highly recommend taking her to the vet.
