You can but your eyes are supposed to pop out, i heard that your eyes shut to keep the eyeballs inside of the sockets, and then there is the story the devil is trying to steal your soul that is why you cover your mouth

i really dont know the answer to your question, but i would like to share with you now that you mention sneezing that a guy i went to school with named Daniel once mentioned that if you sneeze, cough, yawn, and fart at the same time you die at the spot.

Whenever you sneeze, your eyes automatically shut. If you tried to hold them open, they would still probably succeed in shutting, unless you managed to hold them open really well. If you sneeze with your eyes open, your eyes will pop out of your skull. It'll be a painful experience, so please don't try it.
