Its like a addiction, food is the addiction. After a while it comes natural & the body thinks its ok.......the when the body does get food its own normal reaction is to get it out. Most people need medical help to over come.

I was bulimic for years. At first it was about my "weight" but it eventually became something that I couldn't control. I felt uncomfortable when I ate (like most people do after stuffing themselves on Thanksgiving) it would make me antsy, irritable and sometimes just mean.

It became an obsession that I couldn't deal with on my own and eventually I got help. Even now that I'm fighting cancer it still tugs at me now and then. Especially when the chemo makes me feel ill, like I shouldn't be eating food. It's definitely not something I'm proud of.

Causes?

There is currently no definite known cause of bulimia. Researchers believe it begins with dissatisfaction of the person's body and extreme concern with body size and shape. Usually individuals suffering from bulimia have low self-esteem, feelings of helplessness and a fear of becoming fat

people do that to themselves because they think that they are fat when they usually are not and they are also addicted to food. If they binged like that all the time they would gain alot of weight. So they throw the food back up. In the end they can enjoy the food without gaining the weight but they will never be healthy plus all that stomach acid always hitting their teeth will rot them out.

They suffer from what is called body dysmorphic disorder. people who have BDD often see something irrationally wrong with the way that they look. For example, someone might weigh 100 pounds and see themself as being overweight. They become bulemic or anorexic to lose weight even though they don't need to.

It is the technical name to describe a person who eats and has an uncontrolled compulsion to make themselves throw up their food. Usually in a toilet. These people have uncontrolled feelings that they are overweight and have a Miss-guided desire to appear more thin to themselves. To a loved one, or family member, this particular person appears perfectly normal.
