Every time i seem to go up stairs i hear my left knee (cap) crack, i havent suffered any injury..that I know of that would cause this. Why does my knee crack? does anybody know?

I think it's from lack of cartilage around the joint. I've had the same thing with my Right knee. It even locked up on me a few times when walking. About 5 years ago I started taking a product called Osteo Biflex and I no longer have the problem. It helps to rebuild cartilage. You can find it at most pharmacies or grocery stores. There are other brands as well.

It could be a buckethandle tear of the meniscus (the cartilage between the thigh bone (femur) and tibia (shin bone). It could also be shape of your patella (knee bone.) If you have damage to the backside of the patella, it becomes pockmarked and not smooth, causing friction as it rubs the patellar tendon and against the joint. If it's causing you concern, see your doctor or an orthopedic/sports medicine physician.
