What I don't understand is why they don't get the "coalation" of countries to take on Iraqi security personnel and train them at home. Would it not be better to fly them here and to other countries (Canada, Japan, England etc etc) and train them. Had Bush simply said we're going to train 25,000 Iraqi's at a time here and with our coalation countries and when they are trained we'll take 12,500 of our guys out of the country - he'd have won our support.

Because to get them there (the US) would mean alot of them wouldn't want to leave. Besides, would you pay for airfare for 25,000 people to get over to the US?
Besides, the Iraqi Security Forces aren't very stable. For all we know there's terrorists in them coordinating the attacks that are still going on today.

You think the war in Iraq is expensive now? Try adding the cost of shipping the entire Iraqi army over here and then adding the cost of feeding, clothing, and housing them for the 4 or 5 months (or more) of training required. Don't forget the cost of keeping them healthy. Then, when they all get trained, we pay to ship them back home.
Money is the reason we don't train them here. I'm quite sure, however, that some of their officer cadre are trained over here. The various military academies have few rivals in the world, so I would expect them to bring the candidates here for that.

Because in all fairness most would disapear into our system and think how much it would cost to house them feed them etc making the country where they are a huge terrorist target .It sounds a good idea but how much would it cost to maintain and watch 25.000 ? Best to do it in their own county
