That my friend is a Question only you can answer, I can ask you first . do you have a wife and family? are you tired of the Army Life? Why did you Join the Army in the first place?
Do not get me wrong most people join for the money to help with college, others did so because they thought there would never be a war and or conflict an where, and have to be called up,
I spent 18 years in the Navy, I was in Beriut in 1993 when the Marines where blown up, I was in Desert Shield Desert Storm take note I spent 3 tours in The Gulf each lasting 6-7 Months , after the last tour I was given a disibility discharge.
so the choice is up to you and only you can answer it

Yes! Get a new career! Soon. Bush and his war supporters stated this so called war in Iraq may go on for another 20 to 30 years so you may be going over about every two or so years......or until you get killed. ( Which I hope never happens) The truth is the war will be over in about 18 more months. ( 70% of Americans want the war to end and want the troops home now ) So maybe if you hold out for one more tour you won't have to worry about going back over. Do your 20 or 30 years and then live the good life. All I can say to you is this......It's up to you but what ever you choose I wish you the best.

I would guess after 8 years in the Army and going on 3 tours in Iraq.......probably. Ask yourself if what you are doing is really meaningful. Some people are in the service for over 20 years, maybe its habit or maybe it's all they know. You are asking not only us but yourself, maybe a change is what you need. I say go for it. I think you have served your country well enough.

That is a choice only you can make. I mean if you spend another 12 years in you can retire. BUT if it is bad enough that you have to ask this question, then I would say yes start another career.
I was in the Marines for 8 plus years when I got out. I got out of the Corps as I felt I was not going to go any further as in I had reached the highest I was going to. I got out found another career and am now retired at the age of 51. When I got out of the Corp I was 27.

If you're asking yourself this question, then I think it's time to schedule your TAPS class and ETS.
Like piggrumpy, I did 8 years in the Marine Corps. I got out in 2003 and have been putting myself through college where I'm double-majoring in Political Science and Economics, and I'll graduate December 2007. I may continue on with a graduate program once I'm done. I've also gotten myself involved in the finance industry and am enjoying the opportunities that I'm finding there.
Now, don't get me wrong, I miss the Corps and the friends that I made there, but it was time for me to move on to something else. It sounds to me like you may be in a similar situation.

YES! I sincerely hope that at this point your third tour isn't voluntary because, Christ help me, if that's the case, you really should think better of it. (Not that you can at this point.)
That said, you should consider yourself lucky if you even get the chance to start a new career after having been in Iraq for the third time.

As an ex-military, I'd remind you that everyone leaves eventually. What are your promotion prospects? Do you want a career in the military?
If you are thinking of leaving (you've certainly done your share) what skills do you have? What do you think your experiences will help you bring to your next job?
Look before you jump - either way. Good luck.

I would. If you have a family I would talk my family and see what their feelings are. The question to ask yourself is it worth it to you anymore? I know I have a brother in Iraq and he is waiting to come home in Sept and he is done with the Army!!
