Fill it with warm water and a cup of bleach and let it sit for 2 days. All gone.

Vinegar:) It will take any smell out which is funny cause vinegar is the primary ingredient in pickle juice. I would soak it with mostly vinegar and a little lemon juice for about a day then let it dry FULLY........ It will work:) The vinegar is strong but the smell quickly dissipates

If you don't need the smell out over night, you wash it out with soap and water, dry thoroughly, then fill with newspaper, the amount of newspaper depends on the size of the container. Believe it or not, the newspaper absorbs the smell. Then, toss or recycle the newspaper.
I do this all the time with the gallon size pickle jars, then I decorate & reuse them as canisters/storage, etc...

Wow, there is only one thing.... Use it for a water changing bucket in a large aquarium for two years. Otherwise, the smell will retain it's intensity forever. Sorry.

fill it with tomato juice, and let it soak in for a week or so. also, covering the interior wood with a good 'deck sealant' will lock in the pickle odor.

lol. BOILING hot water and bleach. take a capful of bleach put it in a jar . put a kettle on, once it whistles pour the hot steamy water in the jar...
