Yep free to use -- includes media player which can handle lots of media stuff -- it even lets you write dvd's and cd's that are not copyrighted. Today processing speeds need to be 2ghz or faster though speed really only helps in gaming - then you can't have enough. Speed is not a cut and dry issue -- lots of variables and if in doubt go with the fastest processor you can afford. see buildyourownpc.com for some good info.

I'm not sure about anything involving "Processing speed" blah blah blah, But my advice is just to get a Dell...Gateway's...compaqs and HP'S all suck and you can customize your own computer with dell...so (like they say), your finger prints are all over it, before you even get it. Anywho , I've had a dell for about 2 years now and their support is terrific and I've had no problems with the computers to begin with, Just get a good warrenty on it, whichever brand you decide to get, I suggest you get a flat LCD screen...check the dell website and you'll probably find computer models from them that upgrade to an LCD monitor for free, Depending on your budget..if you have one that is...I'd get at least 3GHZ and a Pentium D processor, Windows Media Center Edition is pretty good, I wouldn't get vista although dells now can upgrade to that because the Windows Vista Operating system is still barley out and it still has lots of glitches that you could get annoyed with. Depending on how much you'll download or rip to your computer, get an amount of storage to suit your needs, 160 gigs should be more than enough, even if you download tons of music and movies, I have 160 gigs and I've only used 60 of them within 2 years downloading tons of music, movies, games, ect. on it, so yea...it's a lot of storage, although you can get up to 500 with dell...But I couldn't possibly ever think of who or why someone would need that much storage, I don't think I could fill that up in a life time, Anyways, if you don't have a budget, get the highest quality you want, but if you do have one, then DON'T get into a hurry picking out and ordering which one you want, I did that and I payed 100 dollars extra for my LCD monitor in late October, and by early December they had the same exact computer with a Free one.if you order from dell over the phone, they have computer experts that will help you to customize your own personal computer to your needs. I don't know much about computers, just the basics, so I'd definatly ask them, even if you're ordering online.
good luck & happy shopping

it just includes a program that gives u easy access to Ur videos, music, pics, and stuff like that
as for the processing speed thing u should get something more than 1.5 GHz for sure if u are into extreme computing u need something like 2.5 or 3.5 GHz..
