My daughter is fourteen and lately I am worried about her.
She refuses to go to school, and seems to have withdrawn from everything. She does not want to make friends, and does not value relationships at all. Some days she will sit in her room alone all day, and not speak a word. She also claims that sometimes she believes people can read her mind, that there are cameras in the house, and that the government is tracking things she says.
I know this has prevented her from doing things like taking showers, because she is too afraid. She wont evenwear certain outfits because she thinks it will prevent other people from things like getting ill.She says that she saw a little boy in her room.
She tells me that she hasn't had these thoughts too recently, but we went to the doctor and she got medicine that she refuses to take because she is afraid it will kill her. She doesn't talk about what is going on so I'm not sure if that is all that's going on, but does anyone know what could cause this?

We have taken her to a psychiatrist before, but not recently.

She has bad company in school. she is afraid of them. Try to change your address and her school, let her attend a school far from the former one. I would not recommend you to force her to take antidepressants, which can lead her to suicide.
Again, if you want to save her change your environment, the more secretely possible, so that her bad aquaintances don't know about her new address.
Let her even interrupt her school. Her health is more important here. After feeling more comfortable, she will continue some time later.

Let me reword this from my last post I have paranoid schizophrenia and I have pretty much the same symptoms as her it could be something else it depends whether it is random or periodic with her but get her treated A.S.A.P and when you find a way to make her take her medication once she seems her old self DON'T take her off her medication it is probably something she will need to stay on the rest of her life no matter how fine she feels.
I can assure you this is a VERY dangerous illness, I see large black creatures roaming around become paranoid about people hearing my thoughts even that people will hurt me once I armed my self with a knife and was ready to use it against my ex if he dared come near me because I seemed convinced he was out to kill me (trust me he was not) get her seen too, the longer it goes untreated the harder it will get to treat and the harder it will be for her to go along with her life, it makes it hard to get work hard to pay rent hard to have a place to live a lot of schizophrenics wind up on the streets because they can't be motivated to work and they don't enjoy staying in the one place.
Read "tell me im here" by Anne Deveson you can order it online I can tell you it can really help

I know this has been said but sounds like "text book " schizophrenia. Kinda young though, typically pops up around 17 or 18. Take her in, for her own good and yours. You may be able to help before it gets out of hand. My nephew exhibited the very same symptoms and tried to self medicate with alcohol and street drugs. After a total breakdown and more than a few times in the hospital he is doing great. Be prepared for a rough ride but stick in there. With the right medication things will be OK.

Well i think it is time to take her back to see the shrink, cause it sounds like it is getting way out of control, if she will not go to school, or wear certain clothing, and won't take her medication cause she thinks someone may be trying to posion her, and will not take a shower. I would say it is time that she goes and sees a therapist, and i would not waste a moment getting her that appointment. She has more then one thing going on, but what has caused it only she knows, and she is not talking to you, or the doctor that gave her some medication. So the best thing you could do for her before it get any more serious then what it is , is to take her back to the professionals and let them work with her. If she continues, they may want to put her in a ward with kids her age, that way she will be schooled, and have to take showers, and still get therapy and they will usually let you be there as much as you want. It sounds like a lot of things that i could name, but i would reither have you take her to a ER or call crisis line and they will get someone to check her out right away, cause she can't really go on this way. If she does, she may get worse, and it will just become even more of a problem. She may not like this, but it is for her own health and welbeing. And sooner then later it should come out with a private session, or with a group, that has kids her age in it, and are having problems like this.
So please do not wait, get the phone and call the crisis line, and they can get a professional on the phone for you right now, and since it is the weekend, that is the only way you are going to get them, or go to a hospital and have them call up an MHP. But i would do it as soon as possiable so she can get back to her self, and be going out with her friends again, and enjoying life like she should be, and going back to her own school.

I would definitely get her back into the doctor and make sure they realize how involved this is. Write everything down that you can thing of before you go so that you don't forget details. Make sure they know that she won't take the meds and why she said she won't. I am not sure what is wrong with your daughter but you really need to push the issue with her doctor, don't allow this to continue she needs testing and treatment right away.

This is a serious psychiatric disorder. If your daughter were on the verge of death from a physical disorder would you insist on knowing what it was before taking her to the emergency room? Get her to a psychiatrist, NOW!!!!!!!!!!! If she refuses medication, she may need to be committed or have a judgement that she can be forced to be medicated.

By the way, it's called schizophrenia. It's very serious.

sounds like paranoia and possibly something else.
i would find a psychiatrist that she can relate to, that she trusts...it could be post-traumatic stress disorder...has someone died?
if she is having those problems, she's probably pretty scared. find a psychiatrist she trusts & have that person explain that the drugs will not kill her. maybe have her committed to a stress unit at a hospital for a few days. that helped my sister when she was in high school.

Ok, here is a little assist from someone that can figure her out. She may be suffering from Paranoia,It could be a phase she will grow out of. If she says she sees a little boy in her room at night, she maybe telling the truth,Have your home investigated by paranormal experts,They may be able to flush the little boy out,He maybe one of the issues, some ghosts or spirits will hold someone or influence some one, even possess the person,Please keep in mind, the child your daughter sees is a spirit that is unrested and needs help with the cross over. I would ask your daughter to tell you more about the little boy like his name and what year it is for him and also what it is he wants. If you have further interest in spirits feel free to e-mail me.

I think she has got some really big problems and maybe you should have her placed in the hospital for some serious evaluation. I cant say exactly what it is but she needs some help quick the sooner you can find out what is causing this the sooner she can get better
