possibly if he wishes to gain minimal tone/strength becoming a victim of the plateu effect. This is which the body becomes used to a certain resitance traing and is now longer effected by the exercise. I would suggest the bench press (Flat, decline, incline) running 2-3 miles 3 times a week. Some sort of a ab workout. Also a arm and leg maybe back (your choice). If you only do chest workouts you won't get a full body tone.

I have a personal trainer and he tells me it's not good to do it everyday.. He tells me 1day on and 1 day off and back to it just like that, but he also said it's best to change up sometimes cause the muscle needs change it will get use to the same exercise and will not show much of a difference. I hope I explained that good...

yep, for the triceps, chest, and also the delts. there are many ways to do push ups, including flat, incline and decline. also the spacing of the hands has a lot of influence on the way push ups affect the body.

Yes, it would be good for toning part of his body. He will need other exercises to get the rest.
Good luck to your friend!
