Have a question for you guys, hope you can answer becasue I am freaking out a little. I was at the self check out line at my local supermarket whe nI was rining my thing through, I bent down to move something, and my hair touched the touch screen computer monitor that acts as a read-out. When I looked at the screen more closely, I noticed there was a nickel-shaped smuge of blood on it. It looked dry, but it very well could have been fresh, I don't know know and I wasnt about to touch it. Now I am worried that that blood may have had something in it, like HIV and Hep C. What should I do? Will a simple shower in hot water kill off anything thats in it? Can the blood soak into and thereby stay in my hair? Should I cut the hair that came into contact with the blood? Does it make a difference if the blood was dry or wet? Any help would be greatly appreciated, I am panicing a little.
Thanks

What if the blood was wet? Does that increase my chances of catching someting?

Don't worry. Viruses like HIV and Hepatitis can't survive for more than 30 minutes once they are outside the body and are extremely hard to catch (when sex is not involved.)

Even if it was HIV and fresh (highly unlikely) and you touched it with an open sore on your hand you would only have an 0.3% percent chance of contracting it...practically impossible!

You hair is dead and nothing can soak into it an infect you in any way unless you have an open wound on your scalp and it somehow got in there. (Again, highly unlikely)

Don't sweat it, no need to panic. It's absolutely not something to worry about.

If the blood was dry theres little chance any of it clung to your hair. I wouldnt worry either way.

i wouldn't think anything would have been passed from a dried smudge of blood, and it's you hair, it not like you injested or injected it, so i doubt it can get into you blood stream through your hair.

But if you want to be on safe side i suppose....
