we believe because Faith. Faith comes from God himself, not from man. Jesus said flesh and blood cannot reveal the secrets of heaven, but only God. Your faith comes from God. Satan wants nothing more than christians to have doubts, don't give in! Keep praying to God in Jesus' name to deliver you from the evil one. good luck!

Jesus said to Thomas, "You believe because you've seen me. Blessed are those who haven't seen me but believe John 20:29

It helps to have proof, that's for sure. I can help you there - first, to help you have more faith that the Bible can be trusted, read the hundreds of prophecies regarding the birth of Jesus that were made by various Old Testament authors hundreds of years before His arrival. They were specific and each were fullfilled. That will really give authority to what not only those particular prophets wrote in the rest of their books, but also to everything Jesus taught. Jesus also referred back to various "Old Testament" authors (they weren't called Old Testament authors back then, but that is how we think of them) throughout His ministry, which further validates their writings. He also made prophecies regarding the "end of the age" that built upon those that Daniel (and others) made. Then John wrote a book about the Revelation he had received from God that took those prophecies even further. The Bible builds on itself. For example, if you believe firmly that Jesus Christ is your savior, but don't think the Great Flood ever existed, then I will tell you that Jesus made a reference to the days of Noah - the flood. I only mention that because I know that a lot of people, some even being Christians, have a hard time believing that a flood covered the entire planet. The thing is, you simply have to choose to believe. Sometimes it is hard, but the more you research the "problem areas" you have with the Bible, the more things make sense.
About after your death: I personally think you will just lay in the ground or in an urn until Jesus makes His return, at which point you will be resurrected. I don't think that you or I will immediately go to heaven. I don't even know if heaven will be like we assume, with clouds everywhere. It may simply be paradise on earth. I am clueless about that, and I think most people are. The Bible speaks very little on that. Please contact me if you have any questions about what I've just written to you. :o)

Hi,
I am a Christian, have been one for most of my life. I know it is hard to believe in a place that we cannot see right now but that it where your faith comes in. Here is a passage that will help you understand Heaven a little bit- hold to this truth and don't let anything sway you from it. (Jesus is speaking) - John 14:1-4 "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the place where I am going."

You have to accept it on faith. If you want proof, or even evidence, you're not going to get it. You may find believers who try to tell you they've got proof or evidence, but they're simply lying, and if you've got any sense at all, you'll find yourself more and more uncomfortable repeating those lies.

What you want is to talk with someone who believes and has enough faith to admit that his or her belief is based on faith and not on evidence. Don't talk with anyone who tells you they have evidence: find the believers with faith. They'll help you in a sincere way.

Later: Wow. How in the world did this happen? Somehow this question attracted only good, decent responses. This is the first time I've seen so many Christian responses without someone lying. My sincere congratulations to all of you - if all of the Christians on Y!A behaved like you just did, this would be a pleasant and decent place.

The Holy Spirit assures us of the authenticity of our relationship with God. See Ephesians 1:13-14 and Romans 8:14-17. When you become a Christian, you don't stop being human -- so your emotions will flux and doubts can still threaten you.

However, God's Holy Spirit is there constantly within you (see John 14) if you are spiritually reborn and promises affirmation. Examine yourself in the light of God's Word -- is something genuinely absent in your walk with God, or are you just going through a valley?

Prayerfully seek God's guidance as you investigate -- and be encouraged! Seeking God is only possible if He's already active in your life and leading you (see John 6:44). Just respond to Him by surrendering and committing your life to His Lordship.

To my understanding, when Jesus returns He'll coming from above descending on to earth - everyone will see Him.

So.. if you die before it happens, I think you go to purgatory. I don't think you will have a sense of time.

Then when Jesus comes, and raises the dead and then you will be judged.

Read Revelations; maybe an amplified version like the Message or NIV; easier to read then the Old Testament language. Exercise your faith, it's like a muscle, the more you use it, the stronger it gets. Eventually you use it without even thinking or feeling the weight of it. For the simple fact you hear believe in Jesus means you hear the Lord's words. No one can be taken from the Lord's hand. Be strong - you're going through growth.

So what's the confusion? You got to die some day - with or without Christ. If you die without Christ and there is life after death, what, you loose. But if you die with Christ and there is no life after death, what do you have to loose, really... In John 10:10 says "My sheep hears my voice and I gave unto them eternal life..." I know that there is a real God and a real Heaven. I also know that there is a real devil and a real Hell. So choose this day whom you shall serve. The Lord is coming back soon, you better get your house in order before it is too late. You should go before God and ask Him questions, surely He will answer them. Love, be bless.

Hebrews 11:1 Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Religion is all about faith. We have to believe that the Lord is in our life and not doubt it.

James 1:5-6 If any of you lack wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.

Are you afraid of waking from a dream of the night? So why worry about something God would not and did not create? Take the leap of faith and jump to the other side and collect true facts. The fishermen had to pull their nets up and move them to the other side, if you remember.

Tts 1:2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; 3 But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;

Hbr 6:18 That by two immutable things, in which [it was] impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:

Our security lies in the person and work of Jesus Christ, and the faithfulness of God.

Don't worry about what you can't control. The whole point of faith is to trust that God's promises are true. Don't let the devil rob you of your hope. The Bible is our only tangible source for this knowledge. The rest is based on your relationship with God, how well do you know Him, how much do you trust Him??
