if you dont have time or energy for the one you have you shouldnt get another one that is twice the work and who knows if they will even get along so then you have another problem my suggestion would be to let her go on play dates with your friend more often

Funny you say this as I experienced the exact same thing with my dog (a border collie) who let me tell you had more energy than you could imagine. He was always wanting more of my time, and I am a busy person so it was hard to dedicate a lot of my day to him. In the end we decided to get another dog! and it was the best idea possible! the two of them are the best of friends and run eachother into the ground! I think it is so nice for them to have eachother and all they need is a little walk each day and then the rest of the time they run around silly and get plenty of excercise. Make sure that whatever dog you get that it is the same size/age as your own, this makes for a better play mate. Also please consider buying it from the pound (thats what we did!) that way you are saving a life in the process!! goodluck to you and I hope all goes well with you and your pooches :-)

We take our dog to doggie day care 3 days a week while we are at work. She loves it. It took her a while to get used to it ( acouple visits) but nowshe plays all day with dogs till we get her around 5:30. She is wiped out and sleeps real well in the night then. The other 2 days she catches up on her beauty sleep. It costs us 20 a day but that is in the DC area so it may be cheaper elsewhere. It works for us. And think how much another dog would cost too.

If you still have time to walk them, put them out daily, ect, then yes. It is a wise descision. It will keep her busy and keep her from getting too bored.
Now, what kind of dog, well most beagles are hyper and a tad rough, so that rules out a small dog. I would go for a bigger dog, maybe one her size. Breeds like Labs, Standard schnauzers, or even another fellow beagle. Another option is to go to the local humane society and get a dog from there. It works both ways, you get a friend for your dog AND you save a life! Good Luck!

If you have a large fenced in yard, that would solve the problem. I have three dogs and they get along real well, a female mixed breed, a female cow dog and a male black Lab, they are all fixed and play together in the yard, having a great time.

get a similar breed. but if you have a large enough fenced in yard then it should be ok alone. Also if the dog seems to be getting the size of a lab then get a lab or a terrior they have a LOT of energy to keep it busy 24/7

If you don't have enogh time or energy for one dog, how will you care for two???? Do the right thing and find your pet a home that can give her the attention she needs. Otherwise you wil end up with two misbehaved dogs.

Another dog is probably a good choice. you would want to get another puppy around 6 months old. A mutt is probably your best idea. i would say a lab mix.

they have so much energy at that age and until your puppy gets to be over 2 or 3 years old

If you don't have enough time for one dog, what makes you think you'll have time for two? It will be even worse, especially since your time is limited with them they will fight for your attention, they will be shoving each other out of the way to get to you first, you won't be able to pet one dog without the other one trying to get the other one to move.
