contact the state's department of non-public education. they will send you information on all the requirements. I have been home schooled for years and I help my parents fill out the paper work. My parents order my books and the books for all my siblings online, try amazon, ebay, rainbow resourse center (rainbowresource.com), and the well trained mind (welltrainedmind.com). the last 2 are the best. if you have more questions email me. I was homeschooled all my life, I am now in college level calsses 2 years early (dual enrolment at the community college.) I have NO social problems at all so do not listen to any one who says that homeschoolers are unsocial. public school is not the only way to be social. I am in 4-H, on the county council. I am a jr. leader in church. I do all kinds of things in the community. I also help plan the youth outtings for my church group. so there is no reason your son cannot be homeschooled and social at the same time. Home school groups are good too.

Oh does it cost money! a good curriculum will be a bit costly. Make sure you have the time to do this. 5-6 hours a day, not sleeping in, etc. It's hard and you want a good curriculum approved by Colorado as your child will still have to take any and all standardized tests Colorado requires and there will be paperwork with the school district and maybe the state. Check with the guidance counselor on this.
Here's the web site to answer more:

this is a way bigger undertaking than most parents know and you must be a good organizer, self starter, very self disciplined and be prepared to discipline the child.
Have you considered private school? Avoid evangelical Christian school as many times their curriculum doesn't come up to par.
Non-evangelical, mainstream Christian schools like those run by thee Episcopal Church or Lutheran Church are usually very good! Some of the aforementioned can be , but check them out carefully and see how their kids score on standarized state tests ad their HS kids do on ACT, SAT etc. Of course you want to do that with any of them
Make sure your son still gets contact with other kids his age and interaction with kids of all ages. many home schooled kids know content but lack social skills.
the child should get dressed as if for school and you should get dressed for the day too. This creates a learnig and not louging atmosphere.
As to price, I have heard all the way from $0 (very few and with a particular religious or other agenda or bent) to hundreds or thousands. It will be expensive over the years.
I hope this helps and I wish you well
Forgive typos i do not proof read.

Find a local homeschool group in your area -they will help you out. Otherwise search you local school district's website - they should have the requirements posted.
It is free to homeschool...you just have to make or buy your child's curriculum. Some school district require a certified teacher to review your progress so that may cost you $50 or so once a year if you district requires that.

he will be tremendous. he will make a lot of pals.. to boot, he desires the social interactions at this age. he will likely like it by using the first week, and favor to bypass to college... that is what's maximum significant to youthful little ones his age.
