their site says that "it works with a broad range of widescreen TVs..." implying that it doesn't even work with ALL widescreen sets. I spoke with an Apple Customer Service rep and she confirmed that you must have a widescreen tv. Also, they've made sure to use the word Widescreen repeatedly all over the site and even list compatible widescreen tvs.

Because (the rumor is) Apple will release its own HDTV plasmas.

Basically it means it will output a video picture that has a ratio of 16:9, which is widescreen. If you dont hook it to a widescreen TV, I guess it might stretch the picture or not show some parts of the picture.

it's not. it is DESIGNED for widescreens. it still works with TV that have the standard aspect ratio. Just like it was DESIGNED for Mac, but it still works with a PC.

no one can make anything specifically for widescreen,with all the video adapters out nowadays,you can do anything you want.
