I visited the Taj Mahal a few years ago and learned something horrific about it...

Did you know that the Muslim (Mughal) Emperor Shahjahan who commissioned the structure for one of his favorite wives had the hands cut off of all the laborers along with the right hand of the chief architect so that no one would ever be able to build such a marvelous monument again?

It was at that moment that I realized the Taj was no longer a labor of love as so often described, but rather, a labor of insanity!

TRUE? -----Well, there were many ancient, governmental recordings of the account to which the Islamic tour guides referred to while we were touring the marble structure. All I can say is that the Muslims who were our guides that day believed the account to be accurate.

He was no different than most Tyrants.Sadaam did the same thing with the "Oil for Food" built so many billion dollar palaces while his people starve.That sort of behavior had happened from the begining of time.

It doesn't matter. Its an amazing masterpiece. The minarets are especially beautiful.

really? i've never heard that before...are you sure its true? maybe the loss of love drove him to insanity. his hair turned white within a week after her death, i've heard.
