If our troops could return home once we have won in Iraq, then what exactly does winning mean? Does it mean peace in the streets of Iraq? Does it mean rebuilding can begin? Does it mean that our enemies are crushed? Does it mean that there is no more violence on the streets? What do you think this means?

The rebuilding as NOT reported by the various news medias has been going on for about two years now. Iraq has more schools, hospitals, power and sewage treatment plants than ever before in its history.
What will it mean to "Win" in Iraq? It will mean the Iraqi government will be self supportive, that the U.S. and all other countries currently there, wil be gone. That the Iraqi people will be self governed and autonomous of us and all other countries. It will probably mean the fall of Iran -- who last year, while sitting atop the world's third largest known oil deposit had to actually import oil (hint, just like us, that's their motivation for being there). It will mean that the Iraqi people will be able to export their oil at whatever asking price the rest of the world will be willing to pay. It will mean, that Iraq will probably have as much violence (rape, murder, theft) as say, New York, California or New Orleans. And most of all, it will mean that our nation will be able to at long last stop bickering and bad mouthing itself as currently we are more divided than was the Catholic Church in the late 13-1400s. And maybe just maybe, we can be healed. And a side note from me to you, Thank you for not resorting to name calling and other childish acts. Your's is a question asked without hint of bias. Thank you.

Technically we have already won.. Saddam is gone and people are voting for who they want. Now it's just that there are suicide bombers and blah blah... If Iraq were to become a Democracy like the US it will probably fail quickly. There is too much affiliation with the church and politics.

We win in Iraq when W's approval ratings go up and the Iraqis give him free access to their oil. At least that's how it works in his fantasy. I'm tired of living in his fantasy so I'll be at the march on WASHINGTON for peace 1/27!!!

It means it has to be as safe as one of our large cities like Los Angeles, the Bronx, ect. So using that as a rule of thumb we should have left sometime before we ever got there in the first place.

Stable Iraqi democracy (or at this point ANY government) encompassing all ethnic groups. This may be a pipe dream but it is considered the goal for victory after 2003.

I've been asking that for nearly 4 years and haven't gotten an answer.

I'll put this question on my watch list in case someone finally has the answer.

There is no winning. Another silver back male gorilla has an excessive rush of testosterone. The adolescents are well into making their scene, before the slaughter and coronation of a new silver back, so he's fighting to the death- his own political, ego, and moral death.
