My son reccently let out the truth that he was abused since he was seven; I hit the roof and cussed him out, blew a gasket and told his father. Today he came home after one of his friends was looking for him. It was 9:00 and it is now 10:30. After much comforting, he is asleep, I apologized a milion times and said I believed him, but I still think he's mad at me. How do I make up lost time?

you suck! Your reaction is probably why he never told you when the abuse first started. You should never treat your child that way.He isn't going to forgive you anytime soon I don't imagine. You betrayed his trust by acting the way you did.Now he probably feels that he can't count on you to be there. You need to show him that what happened to him wasn't his fault and what the person did will not be tolerated. You need to have his abuser arrested to show him that you are willing to stand up for him.

I don't understand why you cussed him out and "hit the roof". First of all, what type of abuse did he suffer from? Who was he abused by (If it was his father, the you definetly did the wrong thing). How old is he now?
As far as making up for lost time, just try to talk to him and validate his feelings. This is going to be hard, since basically what you did was punish him for being a victim. By losing your temper and cussing him out, I'm sure you made him feel like he should have never told you and that he deserved the abuse. I wish you the best of luck and hope that you can get past this.

wow look to start with you have to tell him that you know it took guts to say that next you have to be sure that it is stopped and that it stays stopped at any cost to you Kids have to come first for the real father so to heck with your ex you make it stop!!! the next thing you be sure he knows that it is because you never knew this that you didn't do anything sooner and last just be there to love him kids bounce really well and they grow up with or with out moms or dads ... but they tend to be better when they had them so make sure he has one

You can't make up for lost time. You can start spending more quality time with him but it will never make up for what has already past.
