What do scientists say and also what does christians say?

about 300,000 years according to scientists. That was when modern man was born. Our near ancestors go back a few million years. I do not care what religions say because they are not in the correct position to make an assessment.

Christianity says 6,000 years. Science says a couple hundred thousand years. The difference is that science has the evidence to back it up.
Look at the below Wikipedia page; it's a description of human activities from the 9th millennium BC, a couple thousand years before creationists say the world even existed. You can go back even further if you want. That pretty much says it all right there.
