I got really close with this one popular girl in my class. We met last year and now we are really close friends. She shares her secrets with me and stuff. All her other popular friends also talk to me now. They are so nice to me. But we never hung out outside of school.One the girls went out with my ex boyfriend before I did.
Does this mean we are not really friends? What does this mean?

There arn't they are jerks! I was one of them. I was friends with people like me. We were nice to people to get something out of them. I was friends with those people for 8 YEARS of my life. Then it hit me that i wasn't really friends with them, and that they were jerks to EVERYONE! Now have tons of REAL friends!!!

I would think so. You sound like buddies maybe not the kind you phone at three in the morning but I think she genuinely likes you. I am 14 in high school with the 'popular girls and boys' and I try and ignore the stereotype because when you think of them to be an average student just like any other it's alot less intimidating. And just cuz you don't hang out after school doesn't mean she is not your friend. If you wanna hang out with her why don't you ask her. I'm sure you will become better friends.
And as for what it means I think it just means you must be a likable person.

I am going to give you advice from an expert Sylvester Stallone and he always says DTA. Dont Trust Anybody. I would think that since you are not an original member of their inner circle that you are not really IN and you could be OUT at the drop of a hat.

There isn't a real social hierarchy at my school. The girls who can be defined as "popular" there are incredibly down-to-earth. We're not very close, but they laugh at my jokes and we work well together, so it's all cool.

Do they treat you like they do with their other friends? Do they whisper about stuff and not tell you about it? It's all by the way they treat YOU. You could try asking them to go to the mall with you or something. Try to open yourself up to them. Sometimes girls like to date other girls' ex boyfriends. Find out if she dated him because she liked him or she just wanted to make you mad. Hope I helped you!! =)

well these kinds of things are difficult, there are so many details involved in things like these so u cant be too sure. But, i know what i would do if i were u. I'd probably test them on like anything to figure out what they would do and contribute to a friendship.

just be carefull hon, but don't be too quick to judge. do they want to spend time with you after school? or do they make excuses? ask them to come over and see what they say. if they go over to eachothers houses and not yours then yes it could be they really are not your friends, find out k.
