"I'll just say I'll find the defendant NOT Guilty since Illegals are getting a free pass even though they did something illegal! So who cares what this person did, its ok to commit illegal acts now.

If you've never served on a jury, you want to do it at least once. It is a real eye opener. When you report for questioning, it will become obvious what makes you a desirable or undesirable juror by the sorts of questions that are asked. I had to close down my business for eight days to serve. I didn't have much to eat that month and missed paying a few bills (but I didn't have a family that depended on me). About the same time, I knew someone involved in a case about a crooked automobile dealer. The judge dismissed the entire panel of 200 people, because 199 of them said they believed the dealer was a crook without even hearing the evidence. The dealer decided to settle out of court rather than try another panel. The one person who said he could be impartial turned out to be an attorney who wanted to serve on the jury so he could "burn" the dealer. If you go through life ducking this civic duty, you will miss out on a valuable opportunity to understand your justice system, as well as do your part. Democracy is a two-part system. Educate and participate.

Oh please. Just tell them that you ran out of your Lithium, Wellbutrin, Cymbalta, Zoloft, Seroquel, Aricept, Xanax, and Ambien and even though you have more now, it will still be a few days before you stop seeing chickens crossing the road, every single road, screaming, "Touch me and I'll sue!"

Works for me every time!!

Seriously, I hope I never get called for jury duty and the issue with "illegals" is so convoluted, I am not even going to go there today.

I am however NOT making fun of the mentally ill. Exactly how do you think I know how to spell all those medications correctly anyway?

I've been to jury duty before and was even picked. You will have to show up for the first day. They can excuse you if you tell them a pretty darn good reason. But they would probably reschedule you to go for another date of jury selection. My advise is to go for the first day and when they ask you all the questions they need to have you on a jury...think when you answer them. It's pretty easy not to get picked if you don't want to be there. I was picked for a really good case. It was pretty interesting. It taught me a lot and I'm glad I did it. But if you don't want to be there just careful how you answer the questionnaire.

Nice. You've found yet another way to show your xenophobia.

Also, all of you trying to get out of jury duty are basically saying that you don't want to participate in a system that you may need one day. It's just like people who are anti-social programs - until they need it. What if you were framed for murder and everybody on the jury just happened to be the 12 people too STUPID to get out of it?

It will work. You can just say you don't feel comfortable judging others and you will get out of jury duty, it's not hard. But if you want to do it that way to make a statement, go ahead, it will work.

Will it work? Maybe.

Should you be trying to get out of jury duty? Not in my opinion.

Do you have a point about illegal aliens. Perhaps... but why not ask a question relating to that, instead of couching it in a question that threatens to evade civic duty?

I know somebody who got out by saying he has an extremely negative attitude towards the legal system and he would never be able to make an impartial decision.
Personally , i got out by supplying a test reporet from an audiologist saying that i have a hearing problem.

That will only get you held in contempt of court. Just suck it up and do your duty. Jury duty is the governments way of saying "thank you for registering to vote, have a nice day".

The best way is to go, and when they question you and see what your thoughts are, just tell them the truth. " I have friends who are cops and I know, that to be arrested and charged with a crime, they have to have probable cause. So, this person has to be guilty of something so lets vote right now"

The defense lawyer will excuse you for cause.
