I used to enjoy running. I played soccer for years. I then suffered a couple of accidents while I was in the Army. I injured my lower back and torn some ligaments and tendons in my feet. I need a good cardio exercise i can do that won't cause me any intense pain. Ive tried treadmills and stairsteppers and they hurt. Does anyone have any good ideas?

What about an exercise bike? It would give you good cardio, without the impact that hurts your feet and back. Also, there's that skiing exercise machine - your feet, ski back and forth. That might be better than the impact of those others.

Try the eliptical machine or The Gazelle machine that is advertised on TV.

Is bicycling out of the question? I did it avidly for decades, and I developed a very strong cardio-vascular system. God Bless you.

since your lower body is injured, i suggest doing pushups. it will really get your heart pumping and tone up your arms as well!
