Depends what you mean by sex. I can go a long time without having a partner, but not more than a week or two without feeling the need to get off in some manner.

I'm sure people can abstain from sex completely. Certain religions ask people to remain celebate (like priests and nuns). Even the musician Morrissey has vowed to remain celebate. I'm sure that is one the most difficult sacrifices because we have the inate instinct to procreate, but is defintely possible for people to not ever have sex.
Nonetheless, since our society is literally whacked in the face with such strong sexual images, messages, innuendos (commercials, movies, fashion, internet, non-secularized society), i'm sure it has made it much harder to abtain from sex, although I dont really see the point in stopping something that is natural and normal...

I know many people born Virgin and died Virgin and had very happy life...
Sex is animal behavior and if not be triggered a person may be more like human being...so don;'t give too much weight to it...

It depends on their sex drive and their moral convictions. People involved in certain religious groups abstain from sex because of their devotion to God. The rest of society varies based on their libido and their opportunities to have sex...

I've heard rumors that people have gone weeks, and even MONTHS without sex. Some fantastic claims have even gone into YEARS.
I didn't believe it either.
