I'm done having kids and all my stuff has barely been used. Where is a good place to donate it all? I'd like to donate it to a place I know they need baby items.

So many people sell the good items in consignment stores these days--kudos for you for donating!

Thrift stores backed by charities or churches or non-profits like Goodwill.
Local shelters for woman and children. Both will have pregnant women and women with babies.
Low income or income-based day cares.
Churches, Synagogues, Temples, Mosques all usually have community services or needy members.
Agencies that work with children. We have one in ATL area that houses babies whose mothers have either died or are not able to take care of their babies because of AIDS. Call United Way for a list of community based agencies. UW's phone number will be listed in the front of your phone book. We dial "211" in our area.

You could also check with your local Department of Children and Family Services...they usually accept donations. Infants end up in foster care too.

Not only will you get the satisfying reward of helping those who truly need it and would love to have it!, but you can get a tax break for yourself. Ask for a tax receipt, but remember you'll have to itemize the items yourself. Amounts claimed for the items would be valued by approximately what the item would sell for a yard sell.

There are a lot of religious organizations that sell them for cheap for people who can't afford new things. Also, battered women's shelters are great places as well. Look them up in your local listings and see if they need some of the items. You can also put up a notice in the paper and sell them for really good prices for people who need them and can't pay to buy new stuff....kind of along the same lines as the first, but you get the money...then you can do whatever you want with the money, keep it or donate it to your church or local charity. Good Luck and Best wishes!

Check in your community.

Salvation Army/Good will are good places. So is the local woman's shelter. We donated our daughter's stuff she has outgrown to the local women's shelter, and it is nice to know that women that really need the items are getting them.

You can also look into some 2nd hand kids stores - they will sell your items at a very reduced rate, and if you are in need of some other items, you can use the credit for the items you need.

If there is a pregnancy center in your town that helps low income...that is a great place. Otherwise if you a church that has a mission to help lower income they would be sure it went to those truly in need. A battered woman's shelter that accepts kids may also be a good place.

Women in Transition, or and crisis pregnancy place would love to see your gently used baby items. They would even give you a tax receipt too I bet, if you asked them.

Take it to a women's shelter. A lot of women there have babies and they may have had to leave all their baby's things behind when they fled an abusive situation.
