I was looking at a 12" Alpine Type R for my 2003 maxima to mount over the back seats. Would there be a big difference in having two 10"?

ok let's try this from reading all the other stupid answers on this page. Here's the lowdown for all you that don't know. just because you have a bigger sub doesn't mean you listen to certain types of music with it. i have a single 15 and i like hardcore rap and so on. i hit just as hard with both types of music but the rap side uses a lower note true. But never the less a 10 and a 12 are almost the same just one's bigger then the other and the 12 will respond at about 5 hz lower than the ten. on average let's say. now yes the two ten's will hit harder than the single 12 but you'll need more power to run them. i'd go with the single 12 just fom experience and it will do you right. if you want more then get another of te same type and brand. other than that some people just don't know about the whole size thing i swear. don't listen to them about that i know from doing this for a long time and still going.

I would go for the 2 10's because I like faster rock music and dont need or want the real deep bass

two 10's will give you more surface area of the cones thus resulting with of course enough power a substantial increase in bass over a single 12

it all depends on what type of bass tone you like!
i perfer the deep boom of a 12" sub rather than
the mid bass sound of a 10" or the more punchy sound of an 8"!

10's will have tighter, more accurate bass.
If you put them in a box it will hit harder, but you run the risk of unwanted resonances if the box isn't done right.
Mounting them free air won't give you so much hit, but the bass will be far more acurate.
if you want boom, go with the 12.

12's are for more bass like rap and 10's are for like rock and metal so what do you listen too will let you know what to get
