There was a time when the smartest of humans didn't believe that the earth rotated around the sun; didn't believe that the world was round; didn't believe in the equality of the races or the sexes. And throughout most of the history of mankind, the smartest humans did, in fact, believe that there was a god.
The point is that the knowledge and understanding of human beings is very limited and strongly influenced by social constructs. This is not to say that those who don't believe in god are not right, rather that the answer to the question cannot be known by even the smartest. The highest power telescope cannot help us to see into an infinite darkness.

That is not true. The majority of scientist don't believe in the christian God. But, most do believe in a higher power. Studies also show that the more educated a person is, the more likely they are to believe in some higher power. Add to that the latest research in quantum physics that shows that our reality is a product of our beliefs, and you are very, very wrong. You should check your facts better. The reason we can't all accept that is because you cannot prove conclusively that it is true. Quantum physics is now proving that many spiritual ideas are in fact correct. The interesting thing is that the early religious leaders came up with these concepts thousands of years before quantum scientists demonstrated their truth. If there is no higher power, then how did they get so many concepts right without the benefit of quantum mathematics? You also must remember that absence of proof is not proof of absence. Remember that the mountain gorilla was a myth until someone found one.

that's easy, technically smart people are very prideful people. Pride is what stops many from getting on their knees before the Almighty. But if you want my take, pride is foolishness. Also your assertion is very biased and generalized "Those who study human history have concluded that man created god" . What "human history" did they study? Did they study evolution? Or did they study the history of the nation of Israel or the resurrection of Jesus Christ? Did you know that avowed athiests who went out to disprove the resurrection of Jesus Christ through every knook and cranie, have ended up becoming Christians themselves. Open your eyes, don't just hear what you want to hear. As far as lack of evidence, when you get a chance go to a mirror, look at yourself and ask yourself this. Are you just a blob of tissue, who happens to be existing by accident, no different than an ape with an absolute no purpose existence. Or ask yourself this, Were you created to be here for a reason and a purpose? Are you an accident? Or were you created in the image of something Higher than yourself? With a calling to fulfill. The truly wise and the truly smart will see life for what it really is and eternal life for what it really is. respectfully and sincerely.

It would be the same to ask: if God doesn't exist, why do stupid people believe he doesn't?... shouldn't they believe He does?may they aren't so stupid?... that's the problem when you generalize!
One thing is Science and facts, and other is faith and believing. You don't have to be smart to believe, there is no relationship.
Has anyone ever loved you? How are you so sure if nobody has never SEEN love, it has never been measured, it's only what people say they feel and believe, not only because somebody is nice to you it means they love you... do you need to measure it or see it to believe it, too? If you do, poor guy!
I don't know how smart you are, but I can tell you about myself that I have 2 University degrees in Engineering, I'm bilingual, my IQ=132, and I believe in God. Moreover, I am smart enough to respect everybody else's believing and leave them alone, to live my own life the best I can instead of waisting time criticizing them.
Good luck!

Professionals generally do not believe in God (or any gods) because they are scientists. Science requires experimentation and evidence and thus religion clashes with their idealogy because faith requires none of those things. Also, I do not believe that by studying history (unless you mean the Bible) concludes to God's creation of man. I would like to know how you came to that conclusion. It's hard for some people to accept the idea of a divine creator because it is a concept that they cannot witness or feel. For others it is easy because they do not need the evidence. However not all smart people are atheists. Our Founding Fathers believed in God and yes, even Sir Isaac Newton believed in Him. And there are some scientists today who believe in God. You just have to find them. They're a dying breed.

hmm... not ALL smart people are atheists. Einstein, Newton, Keppler and Copernicus all believed in God. Pope John Paul 2 was no slouch intellectually, nor was Mother Theresa. You may not have lived on this planet long enough to have read anything by Chesterton, Yancey, or Steven Covey-- all believers in a Creator-God, and all brilliant, diversely involved people. Ever hear of Martin Luther King Jr. or Desmond Tutu or Nelson Mandela? Smart people AND Nobel Prize-winning to boot. I urge you to do a little more reading before you jump to conclusions.
All the best!

The majority of "smart people" believe in evolution. There is NO evidence that evolution is our reason for existence. If there is lack of evidence to support that God does exist, then what is the Bible? even putting that aside, millions have been martyred for their faith in God. I have yet to hear about someone giving their life for their belief in evolution. Take a look at the world around you. The vastness of the earth and the things on it are too beautiful and are clearly designed with a purpose. That alone is cause to believe that God exists. But perhaps the real reason "smart people" don't believe in God is that they have never been approached with the Gospel. Who will tell them?

Your information is shoddy, at best. There is absolutely no such poll that shows that the smartest people in the world do not believe in God. I think you will find the opposite is true, esspecially in this Country where we are over 81 percent Christian. For Gods sake, Mother Theresa won the nobel Peace prize. The gentlemen responsible for the Country you live in, our forefathers were believers. Who the heck are "those who study human history"? You have a problem with information gathering, a problem with accurate Biblical studies, and a problem understanding yourself; How can anyone expect you to understand God??

This is a simple deduction that you that have never been exposed to the story of Lucifer (Satan, Devil) If you stop and think about it Lucifer was God's greatest angel! Smartest, Most Attractive, Most talented and so on and so on. He became so great smart in His Eyes that he thought he was just as high as God! ( this is what I ponder on this thought) Do you see how these things are similar. In this country at the more elite schools. Students are taught to challenge authority to think for themselves so to speak. Think out of the box! On another note If you really want to educate yourself read the book "A Case for Creation" He is an Ivy League scholar who presents the evidence in a fair unbiased manner! A must read!

I think your question is flawed. Personally I've never seen a poll that showed a majority any single profession (scientists, professors, etc.) as being agnostic or atheist. If you could quote a source I would be very interested in seeing the data.
