start talking to him or her when you feel you are ready. obtain all the information you will need to have with you when you discuss it with your parents.at age 17 you can enlist with a parents signature. at 18 you can sign yourself. and if you are a senior in highschool you can be put into the delayed entry program which holds your spot in the military for up to 1 year. Be sure you want to do this. I had alot of talks with my current recruiter before i enlisted and it did me good when i got all the information i needed to tell my parents that instead of attending school i'm going so go into the military. Good Luck and stay safe. Just remember this even though the Coast Guard is a totally different part of the Military itself it is still military and the military is not for the weak hearted.

You should go talk to a recruiter during your Senior year in High School. The minimum age is 17 but it's better to get your HS diploma first.

The CPO from above is right. We are a great organization. We save thousands of lives each year.

You will find that the Coast Guard is a great organization. You will learn valueable skills and contribute to this country.

And for the cowards who tell you not to do it, the Coast Guard saves lives. And there is a waiting list for volunteers wanting to go to Iraq.

They have been all nonetheless in extreme college engaged on the chop up software and my husband had 3/4 of his college performed, served a 2 12 months undertaking for his church, spoke yet another language, had a spouse and a a million 12 months previous son. So he exchange into very diverse than all of us else. whilst in effortless he exchange into positioned right into a room that had 6 adult men entire - they have been everywhere in the age of 21 - so as that exchange into extreme high quality that there have been different older adult men with him - his conflict chum exchange into 32. My husband exchange into positioned into management positions without delay - he exchange into seen as being to blame and not flighty. It exchange right into a sturdy adventure for him - definite he has has much less tolerance for people that are lacking in the commonsense section, yet by way of fact of his age he has constantly made clever judgements - his "gerital team" have been no situation to his drill sargents - they have been easily releaved to have them. i've got self assurance that when you're older and wiser you may circulate up greater handy in rank and you have a greater useful profession than do the greater youthful ones - you will a minimum of be smarter including your pay - you easily can save a ton of money. those are merely from our reviews. After being enlisted for awhile you may circulate to OCS in case you want to given which you have already got a level - a minimum of you may in the army
