I'm looking for a program that can record like a VCR and record what plays in an online movie and save in a file for later.

They don't exist. bottom line, or the ones that do exist don't work the way they should. what you can do is look into the website's source code, and see if the video has a media player link to it. You can then use this link and open a 'url' in media player. and then do a 'save as' when it's done playing. Only way of doing it besides hacking into the website and taking the content off their server.
