I went through this, struggling with that pesky logic, and eventually realised that I am an atheist. I've been pretty happy ever since.

Does it exactly matter that you must follow an institution?
I am Catholic, but I don't spend all my time thinking of things literally or condemning other faiths. I think everyone is free to believe what they wish.
So, do you believe in God? Do you believe that there is someone or some force or something watching over us, in a sense? Do you sometimes get that feeling that you do have a purpose? Or when something very small, but meaningful happens, do you think of God? (God of course not having to mean Christian God or any other god....just the force...the specific one you believe in). Have you ever just questioned the events in your life, feeling confused and maybe angry, only to realize later at some point, whether hours, days, weeks, or years, that there was a reason behind it? That things HAD to happen the way they did? Just a feeling that there is a purpose in life....a purpose for everything, whether that of actually physically doing something important, influencing another human being into accomplishing something, or even anything that seems even more passive.... Well, if you've just ever had any of those feelings, then you can't be an atheist.
But, wouldn't it matter more to believe in a power, than to believe in the stories you learned and studied in Church? The belief is more importnant than the details. Maybe you should worry less on the justification for everything that your brain desires, and just believe in whatever you FEEL.

Well you've discovered the truth now.. All religion are just cults that use mind control techiques. Its gonna be pretty rough for a while but in the end things will come out for the better.
"The truth shall set you free-but first it shall make you miserable."
P.S. if your going to convert to another religion dont even consider Islam because its the most barbaric, sexist, hateful, and violent religion on the planet. Trust me on that one check these verses:
9:29, 5:33, 5:38, 2:191, 4:34, 5:51, 4:89, 9:123, 33:50, etc...

I began picking apart my own belief system with a mind of suspicion. Asking myself, "Do I really believe that?" Why do I believe that?" I began with the very basic of questions... like "Do I 'really' believe that there is a god?" "Do I 'really' believe that YHWH is the supreme God?" If the only reason you "believe" something is because someone told you you SHOULD believe it, then chances are you really don't believe it. And that is why you find yourself in confusion.
I am not put here on this earth to live by what any other person tells me I "should/shouldn't" do and/or believe. I live my life according to what truth God has placed on the inside of me... As the old folks would say, that stuff that "I know in my knower". Everything else is fodder for the fire.
My suggestion is that you approach what you think you believe with an idea of suspicion, AND seek God's help uncovering what it is that you "know in your knower". Faith is not living by what somebody told you. It is knowing what you know without needing any proof.

Even if you lost your path, Jesus promised you, "I am with you always even unto the end of the world, Amen." Matthew 28:20
As I am a true believer need not be a member of certain denominations. So my dear friend, you could rule me out from being involve in any religion. My salvation is not found in any religion. Salvation is found only in one person, The Lord Jesus Christ.
It is written, "Salvation is found in no one else for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." Acts 4:12
May God show you that you don't have to be held captive to this false religious belief any longer. Jesus Christ wants to set you free.

you can look here and not find ,you can look there and not find
god is not to be found in looking in knowing ,but live in this monment,
our belief is our family belief ,many churches send thier young away ,if only to find/know they dont have the answers either ,god in his wisdom sent all nations thier own prophet
each has a bit of the truth
but firast you must want to believe
perhaps now you are ready to ask the right questions to get answer from thy fathers or mothers beliefs
its not what we believe but that we believe,
there is no rush ,its not a race ,we are put here to find that we believe and that we love ,if yourable to believe and able to love ,lover your own ,then in your own time love others
most religions have unwritten ,secrets your not allowed to be told of untill you show the signs of being ready to believe.
what is spiritualty with out belief.
know there is a god and our christ ,also the arch angel michel who dictated the koran to mahamoud ,each has its appropriate language to belief ,you can never be lost ,there is nothing to fear,
we all have that dark night of belief, just accept we are not to know all of the flesh ,no flesh can reveal of the spirit the all but each only a part ,have no doudts about the main facts and just follow your belief. your family belief untill you find your own belief
trust the process know its only being given as we get it
dont loose faith.
loose looking for other paths and get where your loved ones are going.

Don't be troubled my dear brother if you are feeling doubt and confusion that is of the devil. The reason why you are feeling this way is because the devil is trying to torture your mind because your heart knows that there is a true God out there and your heart is trying to seek that true heart that you are looking for in God through the holy blood of Jesus Christ. But Guess what don't be confused it's not about religion as you said it's about that faith and belief that you have in God and the Father, son and the Holy spirit. And when you pray to God pray in mind, body, soul, heart and spirit and you will see that the Lord father almighty will answer your prayers, Just trust and belive in God because Just as the winds exist so the Lord in Spirit. Don worry, do be confused read the BIBLE and the Lord shall direct your way. feed on his words in the bible and meditate on his words and he shall surely direct you. You see my brother in Chrsit it's not about the church and the pastor or the preacher nor the religion it's about that personal relationship that you hold with God almighty, that's all it's about.
Lets Pray:
Our Father who is in Heaven who is most powerful and see all the wickedness of the people of the world and all the wickedness done under the sun, in Jesus blood cover this brother and cover him with the holy most powerful blood of Jesus> lord you know that things are not easy in anyone of our lives but still you make it possible that we can always awake in the morning and pray to you and be guided by your holy spirit to reach out to others and for others to read our inspirational words because it is of you. I pray that this brother finds his way to you and that he may fear you and you only. In Jesus name I pray father and AMEN.
God Bless you my Brother.
Take time to pray because it is the source of POWER.

I've already been where you are. Raised Byzantine Catholic to start. I wound up peeking at Paganism and Wicca, and Shamanism and while researching the Hindu pantheon and Hinduism, I found some smatterings about Buddhism and latched on.
It's all about what suits you and what you're looking for. I found logical rest in Buddhism myself, but what works for me isn't necessarily for everyone. Research and decide what works for you!
Wishing you happiness... _()_

I persevered thru the doubt and God taught me what true faith was all about. Did you know Billy Graham doubted? He and another went around the country preaching together and the other man fell away and is now miserable but Billy decided to trust God no matter what came. Now which would you rather be?

Research Christianity more. There is a lot of evidence for it, and it is obviously true.
If you realize that it is the only way, then you need to do something about it. God wants to save you... He loves you very much. I know it sounds hard, but you need to give your life to Him... you need to start letting Him use it... that is all. Just give it to Him, read the Bible, and God will start showing you what you need to do.
